(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Munasinghe, M.K.O.,; Nishanthi, H.M.
As a part of society, undergraduates use social media for educational purposes. Previous studies have investigated the impact of using social media by university students to share knowledge among others. However most of the studies investigated the effect of personality traits on knowledge sharing behavior in social media in Western context. There is a vacuum of studies in a non-western context. To fill this gap, current study is conducted to investigate the effect of personality traits on knowledge sharing behavior in social media among undergraduates in national universities in the Sri Lankan context. Perceived trust plaid the role of moderator in this study. This study was conducted as a cross-sectional survey. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select the sample of 322 university undergraduates which were used in the final analysis. Regression analysis was used to test the research hypotheses with the support from SPSS 26. It was found that the big five personality traits are associated with the online knowledge sharing behavior among university students. Further, study found that personality traits (extraversion, openness, emotional stability, consciousness) lead to knowledge sharing behavior while undergraduates didn’t consider trustworthiness as a major factor in online knowledge sharing behavior. It was suggested that students should enhance their personality traits to enhance effective knowledge sharing employing social media. To encourage online knowledge sharing, policymakers should create trustworthy social media platforms among university undergraduates.

Therefore, this study sets out to examine the impact of employee engagement on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Even though the impact of many other variables on OCB has been researched, the impact of employee engagement on organizational citizenship behavior was not much visible in terms of the Sri Lankan context. This study was conducted in the apparel sector organization in Sri Lanka, Esquel Sri Lanka Ltd, - Ekala. The current study is a cross-sectional study comprising a sample of 108 staff and executive level employees. The data were gathered using simple random sampling technique through a standard questionnaire that distributed as a paper-pencil survey. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23 Version software package. Findings revealed that employee engagement has a significant positive impact on organizational citizenship behavior. Further, it was revealed that perceived organizational support has a significant positive impact on OCB. But this study statistically emphasized that perceived organizational support did not act as a moderator for the relationship between employee engagement and OCB. Therefore, it can be suggested that to take steps to boost up employee engagement would enhance better organizational citizenship behavior among employees.

Of those, Sri Lanka is a leading country where most apparel sector giants are interested to invest in. Further, in Sri Lankan context apparel sector is highly competitive as quite a number of big giants such as MAS Holdings, Brandix Apparel Lanka Ltd, Hela Clothing (Pvt) Ltd are operating in the market. Due to this high competitiveness in the industry, greater struggle is visible to attract and retain key talent. However, retaining talent has become difficult due to the job tension associated with high competitiveness. In the current study, the researchers attempt to investigate in depth the impact of job tension on job satisfaction of the executive level employees of the Apparel Industry, with special reference to Anuradhapura District. The executive level employees in three leading garment manufacturing organizations in Sri Lanka were investigated through a sample of 100 employees.
