The statistical tests were used includes: descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analyses. Through the multiple correlation analysis with the help of user friendly statistical software it is found, there is significant and positive association between ASP and EPS (P= 0.000, < 0.01). Which indicate that, as the EPS increases it would tend to increase the ASP of the company. On the other hand, there is significant and negative correlation between ASP and EY (P=0.045, < 0.05). Which indicate that, as the EY increases it would tend to reduce the ASP of the company. The study also illustrates that main accounting information proxies have strong predict powers on variations of market share price.Item The Impact of Career Anchors on Job Satisfaction of Bank Managers in State Owned Commercial Banks of Sri Lanka(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Wanigasekara, W.M.S.K.; Muthukumarana, P.P.S.Intense customer care is one of the best practices adopted by the private sector commercial banks and this has become a critical success factor that differentiates their service from the service of state banks. Hence, employee job satisfaction is a significant matter of concern for the state banks to face this challenge and achieve service excellence. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of individuals’ selfconcept on job satisfaction in terms of career anchor concept proposed by Edgar Schein. A purposive sample of 108 managers from Bank of Ceylon and People’s Bank head office were selected by using simple random sampling technique. The independent variable representing career anchors includes the following three dimensions; talent based career anchors, need based career anchors, value based career anchors while the dependent variable job satisfaction was analyzed under two dimensions namely; intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors. There are four hypotheses were formulated using deductive approach. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed among the respondents to collect data for the research. Descriptive statistics were used to present the characteristics of the sample of the study. Furthermore the Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to measure the impact of career anchors on job satisfaction. The study found that there is a significant impact of need based career anchors on job satisfaction whereas talent based and value based career anchors have no significant impact on job satisfaction of managerial staff at state owned commercial banks.Item Relationship between Celebrity Endorsement and Brand Attitude: With Reference to Financial Services Sector Brands in Sri Lanka(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Dissanayake, D.M.R.; Ismail, N.This study is focused on Sri Lankan service sector which has remarked a significant position in the local economy. This company provides range of different types of loans to its customers and among them it was identified a loan category with a specific feature. This loan type is called as “Stepping Up” loans and the special feature in this loan is its monthly installment changes (increases) in every 12 months. Therefore the monthly installments in first few years are relatively lower than the monthly installments of the final years of the loan agreement. In the interest income recognition of these types of loans company has encountered a problem because Sri Lanka Accounting Standard (LKAS) 39 – ‘Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement’ requires recognizing the interest income of loans using effective interest method where in the first two years of the loan agreements the monthly rental is not even enough to recover the interest of these loans which is calculated using effective interest method.Item Role of Facebook: A Review(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Padmasiri, M.K.D.; Kawshalya, P.This study is a literature review regarding the role of Facebook in teaching, marketing and relationship management. Accordingly, Sri Lanka too has attached a considerable importance to promote this area in formulating its development policies, and already taken a number of steps for creating more entrepreneurs. However, in most of the deliberations, the need of the entrepreneurial development is discussed theoretically without even reviewing the success so far achieved based on the relevant national wide data in the economy. Nevertheless, this study, going against this conventional wisdom, attempts are made to analyze more rationally why entrepreneurship should be promoted based on the analysis of status of employment data available in Sri Lanka with catching its development so far achieved. Accordingly, the study found that the formal sectors’ labor absorption has reduced from 64.7% in 1991 to 58.7% in 2013 while that of informal sector has increased from 35.6% to 41.3% in the corresponding period on account of not expanding the entrepreneur category in the employment structure of the economy, beholding a higher level of unemployment for the more educated youths as substantiated by the available official data which indicates that open unemployment for the educated youths is as twice as that of lower level educated persons. The current study shows that percentage of the size of employers or the successful entrepreneurs compared to those of other sectors’ has been stagnated at inadequate low level around 2 to 3 percent of the employed over the study period, and this fact highlights the failure of the country’s attempts so far made to increase entrepreneurs, and why entrepreneurship should be really promoted in order to increase employment generation, income growth and poverty alleviation for the economy. Income elasticity and interest elasticity of money demand affect the channels of the monetary policy transmission mechanism. This study investigates the long run demand for money and the short run demand for money. The estimation of a money demand function for M2, using annual data for 1993 to 2013 forms the basis of this investigation. The significant long-run relationships were found between Broad money demand, GDP, inflation rate and interest rate. Therefore, these variables can be taken as determinants of broad money demand in Sri Lanka. The positive elasticity of money demand in respect of GDP reveals that money demand for transaction purposes increases when income increases while the negative elasticity relationship between money demand and the interest rate and inflation rate implies that demand for money declines when interest rates and inflation rates were increase, while interest rate and inflation rate are significant in the long run, it is insignificant in the short run. The empirical findings of this study show that the demand for broad money (M2) in the analyzed period in the Sri Lanka is stable, indicating that on the basis of selected determinants, its long term prediction can be carried out. This study complements the existent economic literature by analyzing the determinants and stability of money demand in the Sri Lanka. Because of, demand for money is stable then money supply is the most suitable monetary policy instrument in Sri Lanka.Item Impact of Lean System on Merchandizing Performance Excellence(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Pathirathna, L.S.B.H.; Herath, H.M.R.P.The study sets to achieve two objectives namely, identify the extent to which Lean system performance impact on Merchandizing Performance and bring recommends to horizontally replicate the research findings for similar organizations. Theories of corporate governance insist on dispersed ownership and segregation of ownership and management. In most of the emerging countries a concentrated form of ownership is evident in listed companies. Therefore the objectives of this study are twofold; to investigate whether ownership structure has an impact on firm performance and to examine whether concentrated ownership has an impact on firm performance, in companies listed in Sri Lanka. Researchers have considered a sample of seventy six (76) non-financial listed companies in CSE during the period of 2008 to 2014. A time fixed effect model is applied into the panel regression analysis and a Generalized Least Squares (GLS) regression model is chosen. Findings suggest that a significant relationship exists between ownership structure and firm performance. Empirical evidence further elucidates that institutional ownership has a significant positive relationship with firm performance, which can be justified based on the ‘active monitoring argument’. Significant negative relationship between individual ownership and firm performance can be argued based on ‘manager discouragement argument’. Concentrated ownership too has a significant positive relationship with firm performance, supporting the wellknown agency theory propositions.Item Misclassification of Investment Property: A Case Study on Selected Sri Lankan Company(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2015) Silva, N.K.L.Accounting doesn’t make corporate earnings or statement of financial position more volatile.
