Item A Study on the Impact of Brand Equity Dimensions on Purchase Intention of Signal Toothpaste with Special Reference to Colombo Area(Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya,Sri Lanka., 2017) Karunaratne, C.M.F.; Fernando, P.M.P.Brand Equity is one of important concepts in Brand Management as well as in academic research. Developing and managing Brand Equity for a brand is considered as a critical issue for most firms. Having number of brands and flavors, causes to create intense competition in the toothpaste industry. Brand Equity has become as an important concept to win this competition and to become as the dominant toothpaste brand in consumers’ mind. With the literature background, this research focuses to identify the impact of Brand Awareness, Brand Association, Perceived Quality and Brand Loyalty on the purchase intention of Signal toothpaste by adopting Aaker’s brand equity model. Current Signal toothpaste buyers were selected as the population for the study. Convenience sampling technique was used to extract 150 respondents as the sample. Survey method was used as the data collection method and a self-administered, structured questionnaire was distributed among respondents to collect data for the study. Hypothesis were tested by using multiple regression analysis and results showed that both Perceived Quality and Brand Association had a significant positive impact on purchase intention while Brand Awareness and Brand Loyalty do not significantly effect on the purchase intention of Signal toothpaste.Item Impact of Brand Equity towards Purchase Intention: With Special Reference to Comfort Fabric Conditioner Brand in Sri Lanka(Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya,Sri Lanka., 2017) Dissanayake, Y.M.H.R.K.; Fernando, P.M.P.Brand equity is one of the significant concepts in brand management, as well as in business practices and academic researches. Developing and properly managing brand equity has been emphasized as an important factor in the current business practices. This research empirically examines the impact of brand equity dimensions on customer purchase intention in relation to Comfort Fabric Conditioner Brand in Sri Lanka. A sample of 200 of consumers in Western Province was selected using convenience sampling methodology and the data were collected under the survey method using self-administrative questionnaires. Correlation and regression analysis were used to check the relationship between independent variables and the dependent variable. The findings can be used when developing brand equity concepts and strategies to products and brands in the market. This is especially valid for a product such as fabric conditioner, which is still at the customer adoption stage in the Sri Lankan context. This study is providing practical recommendations to brand managers on understand customer expectations and purchasing intention when designing their branding strategies.Item The Impact of Brand Equity Dimensions on purchase intention with special reference to Laugfs Lubricants.(Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, 2017) Muditha, W.D.Y.; Medis, A.This study was carried out to investigate the impact of Brand Equity on Purchase Intention of LAUGFS Lubricant. Brand Equity is one of important concepts in Brand Management as well as in academic research. Developing and managing Brand Equity for a brand is considered as a critical issue for most firms. This research focuses to identify the impact of Brand Awareness, Brand Association, Perceived Quality and Brand Loyalty on Purchase Intention. The researcher used the customer based brand equity model adopted by Yew Leh & Lee (2011) as the basis of the research. The target population consists with currently LAUGFS Lubricants users in the Colombo area. Convenience sampling technique was used to extract 100 respondents as the sample. Survey method was used as the research strategy and a self-administered, standard structured questionnaire was distributed among respondents to collect data for the study.Findings of this study provide implications for brand develop manager of the LAUGFS lubricant to overcome the research problem.Item Impact of Brand Equity Dimensions on Selection of Retail Fashion Chain among Youth (A Study Based on Colombo District).(Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, 2016) Perera, T.C.J.; Patabendige, S.S.J.In recent years, retailers have been facing a challenging marketing environment and they have recognized the power of brand building. Hence building brand equity becomes an important source of differentiation as well. Before purchasing a particular product, first of all the customer has to select a store from where it can be purchased. Hence the study has been conducted by identifying the uninvestigated researchable area “selection of retail clothing store with the term of Brand Equity with special reference to Retail fashion chains in Colombo district among youth. The key purpose of the study is to investigate how brand equity effects on selection of retail fashion chain among youth. This research design is quantitative and primary data was gathered by questionnaires among 100 respondents. Magazines and trade press, internet sources, pre conducted research reports relevant to brand equity and fashion industry have been used as secondary data sources. Descriptive Statistics have been used for data analysis. As per the research outcome, brand equity variables such as brand awareness, brand loyalty, perceived quality and brand association have a clear positive relationship with the store selection. Hence retailers are able to develop strategies based on the importance of each variable to build strong brand equity towards retail fashion chains brands in Sri Lanka.Item The Impact of Country of Origin on the Brand Equity: The case of University Student in Purchasing Toothpaste in Sri Lankan Market.(Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, 2016) Gomes, G.H.D.; Ubayachandra, E.G.This study investigates the reflections of country of origin image on consumers brand equity with regard to the Sri Lankan University Students in purchasing toothpaste. The research problem of the study is to check the impact of the Country of Origin on the Brand Equity. Most of the past researchers have focused on impact of country of origin on the consumer buying behavior without considering a specific product category. The key objective of this research is to identify the impact of the country of origin on the dimensions of the brand equity and the specific objectives are to identify the relationship between Country of Origin and the dimensions of Brand Equity which are Brand Awareness, Brand Association, Brand Loyalty and Perceived Quality. This is quantitative research study and the sampling technique includes Judgmental sampling and Quota Sampling. The data collection method was Questionnaires. Sample size was 150 undergraduates from three different universities. To test the hypotheses, correlation analysis and simple regression analysis were performed. According to the Regression Coefficient, Country of Origin affects Brand Equity of Toothpaste purchasing which indicates positive association between the dependent and independent variables. According to the sample analysis, it describes that most of the toothpaste consumers prefer foreign toothpaste brands.Item The impact of brand awareness, brand association and brand perceived quality on female consumers' purchase decision of foreign makeup products (a study on youth segment)(2013) Perera, W.L.M.V.; Dissanayake, D.M.R.Personal grooming is one of the fast growing markets in anywhere in the world whereas huge brand completion is noticed at a hype even in Sri Lanka. The foreign makeup products brands found in local market is evidence in Sri Lankan context to study the brand related behavior referring to one of the product scopes found in personal care categories. The purchasing decision related to foreign made makeup products referring to female segment has been recognized by the researchers as worth to study depending on the life style rationale of ladies in local market since it could provide constructive insights for crafting marketing related decisions. In par with the same, researchers have focused on studying the impact of Brand Awareness, Brand Association and Brand Perceived Quality on female consumers‟ buying decision of foreign makeup products. The research approach of the study is deductive discipline and primary data were gathered followed by a structured questionnaire. The relationships between each selected brand equity element and female consumer purchase decision were examined along with hypotheses developed. The sample size was 200 female consumers who represented the youth segment. Results revealed that there were significant relationships between Brand Awareness, Brand Association and Brand Perceived Quality and female consumers‟ buying decision of foreign makeup products and those elements were having a high impact on female consumers‟ buying decision of foreign makeup products. Further, the researchers were able to recognize that, among the selected brand equity determinants, brand awareness was the most influential element towards purchase decision with a correlation value of 0.918. It has discussed the findings followed by both descriptive and inferential statistics. The managerial implications have been discussed specially referring to the contexts branding and marketing promotion as to produce knowledge contribution through this empirical study.Item Antecedents of Customer Base Brand Equity: Empirical Evidence from Beer Industry in Sri Lanka(2011) Wanninayake, W.M.C.B.; Chovancova, M.Brand equity is strategically crucial element in the marketing programme in any organization. Even though it is strategic element of branding, it is difficult to measure. Previous researchers have made considerable attempt to develop constructs and tools to measure brand equity, but there is no universally accepted way to measure it. Most of the researchers have argued that antecedents and dimension of brand equity can be varied in different industries and different contexts. Therefore researchers have addressed this issue with considering antecedents of brand equity in the beer industry in Sri Lanka. The main objective of the study is to identify the most significant antecedents of brand equity in Sri Lankan beer market. Aaker’s well-known brand equity model was used for developing conceptual framework. Survey method was used to gather primary data from 250 selected customers in age group 18 to 35 years by administrating detailed questionnaire. Structural equation Modeling was employed to investigate the causal relationships among the four dimensions of brand equity and overall brand equity in respective industry. Reliability test was carried out and Cronbach’s Alpha values of every question items were found that a good interring reliability exist with the data. The results indicated that brand association and brand loyalty has direct relationship with brand equity of Sri Lankan beer market and perceived quality and brand awareness has indirect relationship. Therefore this paper shows that brand managers and marketing planners of beer manufacturers should consider the relative importance of brand equity dimensions in their overall brand equity evaluation, and should concentrate their efforts primarily on building brand loyalty and image.
