Item Participatory Decision Making and Organizational Citizenship Behavior of Teachers in Public Schools in Sri Lanka with the Mediation Role of Empowerment(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2021) Dilini, N.I.; Thisera, T.J.R.The present study examines the impact of teachers' participation in decision making (i.e., technical domain and managerial domain) on their organizational citizenship behavior and the mediating effect of the empowerment over the relationship between participatory decision making and organizational citizenship behavior. This quantitative study follows a deductive research approach and survey strategy. The purpose of the study is explanatory and it is crosssectional. Data collection was done using a standard self-administered questionnaire from 281 teachers in 12 selected public schools in one educational division in Sri Lanka. Regression analysis was used to test the hypothesized model of the study. Study findings revealed that technical, managerial, and overall participatory decision making impact positively on organizational citizenship behavior of teachers. Empowerment mediated the relationship between participatory decision making and organizational citizenship behavior. This study has numerous implications for scholars, teachers and school administrators.Item How Flex-work Impacts on Work Engagement in Sri Lankan Context? A Study of Employees in IT Industry(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Samanmali, R.A.S.T.; Thisera, T.J.R.The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of flex-work on work engagement of employees in IT industry in Sri Lanka. This study is quantitative and explanatory research work. This is a cross-sectional descriptive research and the standard questionnaire was used to collect data through an online survey. The final sample of the study was 110 employees who are currently working in IT industry. Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) was used to analyze collected data. Simple regression analysis was used to test the impact of flex-work on work engagement. The present study revealed that there is a significant positive impact of flex-work on work engagement. The present study provides the directions for HR policymakers, employees, supervisors, and future researchers.Item Impact of Servant Leadership Style on Employee Commitment: Study of Employees in Banking Industry(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Ranaweera, P.H.N.S.; Thisera, T.J.R.Servant leaders strive selflessly and altruistically to assist others before themselves, work to develop their followers to their greatest potential, and seek to benefit the wider community. The present study examines the impact of servant leadership style on employee commitment. This study is quantitative and followed the survey strategy. This study is a cross-sectional data collection and done using standard questionnaire from 105 employees attached to the banking industry. The sample was selected through the convenience sampling technique. Regression analysis was done in order to test the hypotheses of the study. Accordingly, this study found that there is a significant impact of servant leadership style on employee commitment. The findings of this study have many implications for the practitioners and the theory.Item Impact of Workplace Spirituality on Employee Wellbeing: Study of ABC Group of Companies in Sri Lanka(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Ranaweera, K.C.M.; Thisera, T.J.R.This study examines the impact of workplace spirituality on employee wellbeing in the ABC Group of Companies in Sri Lanka. The study is quantitative and followed the deductive approach. This cross-sectional study is explanatory in nature. Further, the study was conducted using 125 sales employees in the ABC Group of Companies and data was collected via a standard questionnaire. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences [SPSS] was used to analyze data and simple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses of the study. The findings revealed that the workplace spirituality positively influences employee wellbeing. The present study provides numerous implications for HR practitioners, policymakers, employees, and future researchers to enhance employee wellbeing and maintain a spiritual working environment.Item Impact of ‘Big Five’ Personality Dimensions on Telecommuting Attitude of Generation Y and Z Executive Grade employees in Finance Companies, Gampaha District(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2020) Ranasinghe, S.P.; Thisera, T.J.R.The main objective of this study is to explore the impact of the ‘Big Five’ personality dimensions on telecommuting attitude of generation Y and Z in executive grade employees in Finance companies, Gampaha district in Sri Lanka. This quantitative, explanatory, cross sectional study is followed by the deductive approach and survey strategy is used to collect data. Data were collected from a standard questionnaire using the convenience sampling technique from a sample of hundred. Simple regression was used to test the hypotheses by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings revealed that, extraversion and conscientiousness have a negative impact on telecommuting attitude. The remaining three variables (agreeableness, neuroticism and openness) did not showed any impact on telecommuting attitude. This concludes that it is better to consider open and neurotic employees for telecommuting arrangements as they reflected a positive significant relationship. Moreover, the study has many implications towards the theory and practice.Item The Impact of Impression Management Motives on Organizational Citizenship Behavior(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Subashini, B.L.C.,; Thisera, T.J.R.The present study examined the impact of impression management motives on organizational citizenship behavior. Further, it focused on the dimensional (ingratiation, exemplification, self-promotion) impact on organizational citizenship behavior. This is a deductive and quantitative study. The study was conducted as a cross-sectional study using a sample of 100 executives and managerial level employees in Alumex PLC in Sri Lanka. Data were collected via a standard questionnaire. Regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis. The findings of the study showed that impression management and ingratiation have a negative impact on organizational citizenship behavior. Further, it revealed that there is no impact of exemplification and self-promotion on organizational citizenship behavior.Item The Impact of Workplace Bullying on Employee Job Performance(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Silva, K.C.V.,; Thisera, T.J.R.The present study examines the impact of workplace bullying on employee job performance in ABC Company. Further, it investigates the dimensional (i.e., workrelated bullying, person-related bullying and physical intimidating) impact of workplace bullying on job performance. This research adopts quantitative research design. The study is cross-sectional and data were collected from randomly selected 132 sales employees via a standard questionnaire. All four hypotheses were tested using simple linear regression analysis. Results showed that workplace bullying has a negative impact on employee job performance. Moreover, dimensions of workplace bullying also negatively affected employee job performance. These findings of the study provide numerous implications for HR practitioners to increase employee performance and maintain bullying free environment. Further, the study contributes to the current knowledge of workplace bullying and job performance.Item The Impact of Work-Life Enrichment on Employee Job Satisfaction(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Sewwandi, T.J.,; Thisera, T.J.R.The main purpose of this study is to assess the impact of work life enrichment on employee job satisfaction in ABC Company. Further, it discusses the dimensional impact (i.e., work to family enrichment and family to work enrichment) on job satisfaction. This is a positivistic and quantitative study that followed the survey strategy. The study is cross-sectional. The data collected from 101 employees in the ABC Company using a standard questionnaire. The results of the regression analysis revealed that work life enrichment, work to family enrichment, and family to work enrichment positively impact job satisfaction. There are numerous theoretical and practical implications of this study such as managers can use work life enrichment practices to enhance job satisfaction of their employees which ensures the company’s competitive edge over rival companies and this study is novel in Sri Lankan context.Item The Impact of Perceived High-Performance Work Practices on Employee Well-being: A Study with Special Reference to the ABC Bank in Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, 2019) Sendanayake, S.D.,; Thisera, T.J.R.This study explores the impact of perceived high performance work practices (HPWP) on employee well-being in the ABC bank in Sri Lanka. Further, it focuses on the impact of dimensions (i.e., training, involvement & participation, performance appraisal, and compensation & rewards) of HPWP on employee well-being. This is a deductive and positivistic research study. It is a cross-sectional study which followed the survey strategy. Data were collected from a sample of 200 employees using a standard questionnaire. Simple regression analysis was employed to test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that perceived HPWP positively influence employee well-being. Further, it shows that dimensions of HPWP (i.e., training, involvement & participation, performance appraisal, and compensation & rewards) also positively affect employee well-being. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that perceived HPWP should be considered by the organizations to enhance employee well-being.
