Most of the time, systematic guidelines that could facilitate legal service solution designing and deployment, not only to identify the complex multi-party collaboration processes within and between legal organizations and legal service providers, but also to identify the nature of the information handled by the collaborative parties, is a primary requirement for clear transformation of legal service strategies into electronic systems. We have proposed a methodological framework which combines two sub-frameworks, while ensuring the alignment with Service Aware Interoperability Framework (SAIF) recommendations with the objective of understanding the legal service collaboration processes as well as of identifying the nature of the information handled by the collaborative parties, in such a way to provide a useful input for the creation of electronic legal systems. The architectural framework was developed based on Business Transaction View meta-model in UN/CEFACT’s recommendations for business collaborations. By applying the proposed framework in legal sector, it has been illustrated how the activities and information can be used in realizing services related to the domain when developing service solutions.Item Assessment of the Contribution & the Relationship between Foreign Direct Investment & Economic Growth in Sri Lanka.(8th International Conference on Business & Information ICBI – 2017, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2017) Gunarathne, S. Hence, organizations prefer not to carry inventories, and most organizations select Make-to-Order Manufacturing strategy, and contract employees hire through Manpower suppliers. The Pneumatics tyre manufacturing organizations cannot be separated from the other industries. Not only manufacturers are moving towards a zero stock concept, but also both original equipment manufacturers and replacement market customers use the same concept. This creates an imbalance in the tyre supply chain where neither manufacturers nor customers focus to keep inventories as a buffer to meet the uncertainties. As a result of this phenomenon, on time delivery becomes crucial which forces the manufacturers to use production planning to its maximum potential. An unconsidered factor takes place as a result of socioeconomic influences, contract employees which lead them to change their work place often which directly affects the operations where operator efficiencies are critical. That makes production planning to a new dimension in the pneumatic tyre manufacturing industry. The research focuses on order acceptance models and production planning models and proposes a model for order acceptance in pneumatic tyre manufacturing. The analysis shows that the model helps to achieve KPIs of the organization. The order acceptance model presented can be implemented to any industry where operator efficiencies become significant in terms of operation output, regardless of the manufacturing strategy with modification according to industry-related constraints.Item Ecosystem Integration and Ecotourism Potentials in Kala Oya Estuary, Sri Lanka.(8th International Conference on Business & Information ICBI – 2017, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2017) Gunathilaka, M. Kannangara, the father of free education system of Sri Lanka, introduced the free education system to Sri Lankan. And also, the government spends more on the education. This study formulated the Education Production Function (EPF) for G.C.E. Ordinary Level students in Passara education zone, Sri Lanka. Multivariate analysis technique used to evaluate empirical data. The EPF is based on Cobb-Douglas type production function by using Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA. The EPF estimations show student’s self-learning hours are the most affected factor on student’s cognitive achievements. Amount of sleeping hours, scarcity of education resources at home are negatively affected on children’s education. It seems that students who live in Passsara education zone are weak in time management ability. A. P. L.; Perera, P. R. M. R.The purpose of the current study is to identify the patterns of the interactions made by students of the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka with the Learning Management System (LMS), and hence discover new knowledge for decision making. Data from the LMS of a sample undergraduate courses (two) and a sample diploma courses (two) of similar nature were selected. Data were collected through activity log reports from LMS for the second semester of academic year 2015/2016. The data were then analyzed based on the pattern and behavior of students’ interaction with the online content of the courses. According to the findings of the study, majority of undergraduate logs represent resource view, while next highest represent the course view. This pattern is common for both undergraduates and diploma students. Daily average use of LMS shows an important trend where undergraduates use LMS at an average rate during the first month of the semester and usage improves by the middle of semester. When it’s closer to the examination, LMS usage drops considerably. Diploma students show a different behavior, where in the mid of the semester, LMS usage drops drastically and when it’s closer to semester end examination, usage improves. LMS usage by day of the week suggests that undergraduates log into the LMS when they have convenient internet access. Based on the findings, several recommendations are made to enhance the effectiveness of the existing services available with LMS and to design and add social connect modules to the learning experience.Item Examining the Role of Multitasking on Academic Performance of University Undergraduates.(8th International Conference on Business & Information ICBI – 2017, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2017) Perera, S.; Yatigammana, M. Further, the multitasking is a mediating factor between Internet skills, ICT usage and GPA of the undergraduates. The findings of the study revealed that, concentrating too many activities at one time leads to decrease the academic performance of the undergraduates.
