    Green Orientation of Human Resource Management and Green Attitude of Employees: Moderation Effect of Personal Character

    This study is a systematic and scientific attempt to assess whether personal character moderates the relationship between green orientation of human resource management and green attitude of employees. The data were gathered using self-administered and structured questionnaires from 327 branch managers working in licensed commercial banks in Sri Lanka. There were two hypotheses developed in this paper based on the theoretical and empirical accounts regarding the green attitude of the employees. Accordingly, the findings revealed that green orientation of human resource management directs to employees’ green attitude and such relationship is significantly moderated by the personal character of employees. Based on this significant impact, it is possible to theorize that personal character of employees is an imperative concept that should be considered in the organizational contexts while making crucial decisions related to their attitude. Further, the findings are significant in terms of adding new knowledge to the literature and provide grounds to inquire the importance of green orientation of human resource management in explaining the deep understanding of green attitude of employees.

    Enhancing IT Graduates’ Employability Skills for Surviving in New Normal: Perspective of IT Professionals

    This research focused on how Information Technology (IT) Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) contribute to equip IT graduate employability, from the perspective of IT industry experts in Sri Lanka. The research further identifies the mismatches between IT HEIs’ contributions to equip IT graduate employability and the industry demands after COVID 19 in Sri Lanka. Thirteen semi structured interviews were conducted via zoom platform with the industry experts representing major IT companies in Sri Lanka. The interview protocol was designed to get the expert opinion about the contribution which HEIs can make to equip future graduates with necessary employability skills in general and specifically in the new normal. According to key findings of the study, providing opportunities for industrial experience, sharing technical and practical knowledge, up-to-date syllabus, firm foundation of knowledge, trainings on online platforms and tools, developing soft skills and remote working skills of graduates such as trustworthiness, minimum supervision, stress management, self-driven, attitude, team spirit, ability to take challenges and responsibilities were identified as the areas in which HEIs could contribute towards creating smart IT graduates with a digital presence ready to be employed in new normal. The outcome of this study will strengthen HEIs with necessary requirements to upgrade their IT education quality and quantity wise as then graduates can meet industry expectations for better employability.

    Role of Big Data in Human Resource Management: A Review and Bibliometric Analysis

    During the last decades, big data has been recognized as a salient enabler of human resource management performance. Although increasing academic attention on big data in human resource management has been generated, there is still a void in this research domain. Due to the increasing academic interest in big data in HRM, a thorough bibliometric analysis of the structure and development of this research topic is required. Correspondingly, classic narrative literature evaluations provide substantial contributions, notwithstanding inadequate to give an exhaustive overview of a particular research area. Consequently, scientific mapping, which garners bibliometric techniques to structure and develop a specific area graphically, is gaining salience. Thereby, the overriding aim of this research is to examine Scopus publications related to big data and human resource management. Bibliometric analysis was performed to explore the growing trends, global distribution, thematic evolution, influential articles, researchers, keywords, and dominating countries in big data and HRM. The cluster analysis results highlight the most important topics for current and future academics in the fields of HRM and AI. Emerged clusters include Cluster1: adoption of HR analytics; Cluster2: decision support systems; Cluster 3: dynamic capabilities; Cluster4: digital innovation; Cluster5: organizational ambidexterity; Cluster6: internet of things; Cluster 7: cloud computing. The result is intended to show academics and practitioners a state-of-the-art and comprehensive view of the diverse and multidimensional phenomena of big data and HRM research.

    Coping with Psychological Issues Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic Times: Perspectives of Undergraduates of Non-State Universities

    The COVID-19 pandemic caused much upheaval to people's lifestyles worldwide/globally. Even university undergraduates had to switch from conventional physical classrooms to online learning. According to several studies, various issues pertaining to online learning have intensified the stress levels of undergraduates. This study adopted a qualitative approach. Primary data were gathered through structured interviews, from which coping mechanisms used by the students were identified based on a thematic analysis performed through NVIVO. Coping mechanisms played a critical role in ensuring these undergraduates' ability to handle their psychological issues and continue their academic work. The population included non-state undergraduates in Sri Lanka in the academic year 2020 and the sample size was 30. Findings revealed online learning, high workload, and IT infrastructure issues as key challenges undergraduates face during the pandemic. Among these, two main themes were identified as individual activities and group activities regarding coping mechanisms adopted by undergraduates to alleviate stress. This study recommends/highlights the importance of undergraduates engaging in such activities that help sustain their psychological status. Similarly, the study emphasized the role of universities and higher education institutes in facilitating and promoting such activities among their student population.

    Association between Emotional Labour and Psychological Well-Being: With Special Reference to Doctors Working at COVID - 19 Treatment Units in Gampaha District, Sri Lanka

    In the context of Sri Lanka, the significance of the health industry to the country's GDP is highlighted. Because the country's social health protection and quality health care have an impact on economic growth and development. As a result, the health sector is one of the most important industries in Sri Lanka. This study aimed to examine the effects of emotional labour on the psychological health of outstanding reference doctors employed by Covid 19 treatment facilities in the Gampaha District Sri Lanka . The independent variable was emotional labour, and the dependent variable was psychological well-being. Doctors employed by Covid 19 treatment facilities in the Gampaha district were chosen as the population and simple random sampling method was utilized to select the sample. Questionnaires were used to gather information from the 97 doctors that made up the sample. The doctors' response rate was 100 percent. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0 was used to analyze the data. For univariate analysis, the mean score and standard deviation for each variable were analysed, and the correlation coefficient was employed for bivariate analysis. The impact of the independent varible on the dependent variable was examined using multiple regression. Doctors' emotional labour and psychological health have changed depending on their gender, level of education, experience, employment history, and marital status. The study’s findings indicates that emotional labour has an impact on psychological well-being reference to the surface acting and psychological well-being , deep acting and, genuine acting. According to the Pearson correlation analysis values and regression analysis values surface, deep ,genuine acting with psychological well-being hypotheses were tested. It can be concluded that there is an impact emotional labour on psychological well-being.This paper also makes suggestions for future research, including the need for a more quantitative approach to producing better results and the need to add more statistical analytical tools to the study's currently chosen base with different cultured societies on psychological well-being.
