Abstract

Malaria is widespread in many tropical and subtropical regions and it kills more people than any other communicable disease except for tuberculosis. According to the World Health Organization, 300-500 million people become infected and close to a million die of malaria each year, mostly children under 5 years of age. About 40% of the world?s population is at risk of contracting malaria, particularly in the poorest 1 countries. It is believed that malaria originated in West and Central Africa and spread all across the globe to become the worst killer disease.
