    FACTORS AFFECTING THE WORK LIFE BALANCE OF WOMEN IN EXECUTIVE LEVEL IN THE ABC APPAREL COMPANY

    Work Life Balance is a crucial factor in the world of work when playing multiple roles while being one person. Keeping a good balance between work and life is very important in this static environment. So, for that we should have a clear understanding regarding how the work-life balance can be achieved. This is very crucial specially for women in the modern world of work. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the Work Life Balance of executive level women in ABC apparel company. In addition to that, this study intends to contribute to filling the literature gap by looking into the level of work life balance of women. Although in literature, very few studies have examined to identify this impact, when it comes to Sri Lankan settings, there were not many research findings. The study was conducted as a quantitative and cross- sectional research study. The data were collected through an online survey with the help of self- administered questionnaires using a google form. Simple regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. The independent variables were the technology, commute time, health work life balance initiatives while the dependent variable was the level of employee work life balance. The sample was chosen using a stratified sampling technique, and the final sample included 80 executive-level women employees from ABC apparel company. The results showed a positive impact of Technology, Commute Time, Health and Work Life Balance Initiatives on Work Life Balance. Furthermore, this study raises the need for companies to look at their employees’ work life balance with a more serious and holistic approach. Ultimately, it is recommended that a holistic, gender sensitive approach to promote work life balance is needed. Recognizing the existing challenges faced by the executive level women and promoting solutions for those identified challenges is also crucial to create a sustainable environment which promote both individual well-being and the organizational success.

    The Impact of Social Media Usage in Work Life on Work-Life Balance of Employees: A Study at Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Limited

    After emergence of the smart phone technology, social media usage has been raised rapidly with the development of social network sites and new technologies around the world. On the other hand, by keeping a border between work life and personal life, people who are employed, are trying to enhance better work life balance which does not consist with much conflicts. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of social media usage in professional life on work life balance. Researcher use primary data to analyze the relationship. The study was a cross sectional study and analysis was done at individual level. Correlation analysis and simple regression were analyzed in this study to identify the relationship and impact between independent variable and dependent variable. A survey was conducted for 58 employees at staff level and above members at Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Ltd Company. Results of the study has identified that, there is a moderate positive relationship between social media use in professional life and work life balance. Moreover, results indicate that there is an impact of social media use in professional life on work life balance. The researcher has enhanced empirical knowledge about Work Life Balance and Social media use in professional life

    Factors affecting Work Life Balance among IT Professionals: With Special Reference to Colombo District

    Information Technology industry has unusual work demands like long working hours, meeting tight deadlines, non-standardized working hours, working in alien environments etc. Employees in this industry are experiencing very high stress levels, work pressures and in turn this affects the quality of work life and personal well-being. The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors affecting work life balance among IT (Information Technology) professionals due to the nature of their work responsibilities and industry behavior. Thus to suggest Organizations, individuals to achieve work life balance which will positively impact individual, family, organizations and society. A Descriptive study methodology investigates the factors affecting work life balance of IT professionals and a questionnaire survey is used to gather data from individuals who are employed in IT sector. Using data gathered from 306 IT professionals’ results shows the various factors from individual related and organization related are affecting the work life balance. The results also provide a further direction of the relationship between work life balance and those factors. Organizations and Individual should have a better understanding about the factors and strategies to achieve better work life balance as non-achievement of work life balance has impact on personal well-being and organization performance.

    The Effect of Psychological Contract on Employee Retention

    Employee retention has been a major concern for organizations in this competitive job market because there are employment opportunities for talented professionals, the greater the demand for their services. In order to retain the best talents with the organization, strategies are aimed at satisfying employee’s needs. The problem remains how great the effect of each strategy on employee’s retention. The primary aim of this study is to assess the effect of psychological contract on employee retention in Ansell Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Biyagama. Hence the objective of this research was to identify the effect of psychological contract on employee retention. The Independent Variable was psychological contract under the seven dimensions, namely stimulating job, work atmosphere, autonomy, salary, task description, intra organizational mobility, work life balance and job security and the Dependent Variable was employee retention. The reliability of the instruments was tested against the data. This study was engaged in hypothesis testing and it was co relational. Data was collected from each individual at Ansell lanka, Biyagama. The analysis was based on the information collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Data used for analysis were totally based on primary data which was collected using a questionnaire developed by the researcher. According to the results, there is an impact of psychological contract on employee retention and there is a relationship between psychological contract and employee retention which is significant. The solution to retention problems at the Ansell Lanka, Biyagama is to put more emphasis on work atmosphere and autonomy because according to the findings these dimensions were more correlated with the employee retention than other dimensions
