    Today's market conditions have imposed a growing part of business with the support of information systems. Timely information becomes an increasingly important resource that gives the company a competitive edge. As the information market is subject to constant changes, the success of an individual tourism subject is based on continuous monitoring of these changes and fast adaptation to them. Accelerated technological and technical development has certainly improved some business processes, but has also conditioned some modification of marketing research techniques in tourism. Methods used in paper to investigate this problem are analysis, synthesis, comparasion and deduction. Data collection is made through Internet databases and also on the field in sample of tourist subjects Authors analyzed consumer behaviour of participants on the online tourist market in order to make marketing decisions more efficiently using numerous market research techniques. With the development of new technologies and the Internet, there has been a modification of traditional methods in modern methods that make up the e-marketing information system (CRM; ERP, MIS), which is main focus of this paper

    Information Technology and its Implication on Internal Auditing in Sri Lankan Companies

    Information Technology (IT) is a very much important function in designing, implementing and directing many controls over the organizations’ business processes. Currently both internal & external auditing processes are rapidly changing and one of the main reasons is the changes in IT. This study aims to find the impact of IT and its implications on Internal Auditing. Further, the study examines the influence from Objectives and the Organizational Characteristics on the IT Evaluations performed in Sri Lankan companies. IT Evaluations, Objectives and Organization Characteristics were used as independent variables and IT Evaluation categories were used as the dependent variable. This study carried out using a standard questionnaire which consists of mainly four parts. 100 questionnaires were distributed to companies representing manufacturing, service, banks and hotel sector using the cluster sampling method. Data received from 80 respondents representing all sectors. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). According to the results of the study, internal auditors mainly focus on traditional risk such as IT data integrity, asset safeguarding, privacy and security and less attention has given to system development and acquisition

    Factors affecting Work Life Balance among IT Professionals: With Special Reference to Colombo District

    Information Technology industry has unusual work demands like long working hours, meeting tight deadlines, non-standardized working hours, working in alien environments etc. Employees in this industry are experiencing very high stress levels, work pressures and in turn this affects the quality of work life and personal well-being. The purpose of this paper is to examine the factors affecting work life balance among IT (Information Technology) professionals due to the nature of their work responsibilities and industry behavior. Thus to suggest Organizations, individuals to achieve work life balance which will positively impact individual, family, organizations and society. A Descriptive study methodology investigates the factors affecting work life balance of IT professionals and a questionnaire survey is used to gather data from individuals who are employed in IT sector. Using data gathered from 306 IT professionals’ results shows the various factors from individual related and organization related are affecting the work life balance. The results also provide a further direction of the relationship between work life balance and those factors. Organizations and Individual should have a better understanding about the factors and strategies to achieve better work life balance as non-achievement of work life balance has impact on personal well-being and organization performance.

    Study on Organizational Culture and Turnover Intention in International IT Firms in Sri Lanka

    Management has been continuously facing the threat of employees leaving the staff and local managements records an average loss of 3-5 percent of it is trained and experienced employees in contrast to foreign management’s 2-3 percent yearly. Thus, with local employees, as members of the same nation sharing similar work-related cultural values (Hofstede, 1984; 2001), the problem then pinpoints to whether employees feel an obligation to stay attached to the international management organizations, and hence, to decisions of turnover. Thus, leading to the question: “What is the relationship between Organizational Culture and Turnover Intention?". The study seeks to add knowledge to the current knowledge body of Organizational culture within the areas of organizational culture and the management of employees within the service sector in general and the information technology industry in particular, by applying new methods to the labor turnover phenomenon. The research has been motivated by a determination to acquire insight into the relationship between organizational culture and labor turnover. It is also an objective of the researcher that the findings will make a contribution to those managers and employers who are attempting to discover new approaches when addressing the challenge of employee retention. Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) is used to measure organizational culture and intention to quit scale will be used to measure turn over intention in this study. This study fills a gap in the literature by acknowledging the findings of the organizational culture and turn over intention, hence it will test and validate the model in organization culture and turn over intention in Sri Lankan information technology sector.

    Adaption of Information Technology Systems on Success of Supply Chain Management in Apparel Industry of Sri Lanka

    The research topic “Adaption of Information Technology Systems on success of Supply Chain Management in Apparel Industry of Sri Lanka” discussed in this research paper. This study aims to identify the degree of application of information technology in supply chain management in the apparel industry. Also the study will cover the problems encountered in implementations of supply chain management and finding out the requirements for successful IT implementations in Supply chain management. As such the problem centered in this study was how far information technology is used by the appeal industry in case of its supply chain management. Also the notable research gap identified by the researcher was what factors have affected implementation of Information Technology systems and to what extent the apparel industry uses IT systems in its Supply Chain Management. IT was filled by the research. The key objective researcher attempted to achieve was to examine practice of IT in supply chain management. It was followed by the three specific objectives. Consistent with the objectives of the research, four research questions were raised and mainly such as what is the degree of applying IT solutions in Supply Chain Management followed by two other questions were raised. Based on the variables represented in the conceptual framework, five hypotheses were formulated. Therefore empirical evidence was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Mainly deductive approach was used as the research approach. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used in presenting and analyzing the data. Inferential statics such as regression and correlations analysis were used to determine relationship between relevant variables. There are ten number of findings made. The degree of applying IT solutions in supply chain management is somewhat average in the Sri Lankan apparel sector. The adaption of IT systems needs to get further competitive advantage and other benefits in the supply chain management. Finally eleven recommendations were made and twenty suggestions for future researchers pointed out.
