    INFLUENCE OF TOXIC STRESS ON ACADEMIC BURNOUT AMONG UNDERGRADUATES IN MANAGEMENT FACULTIES OF STATE UNIVERSITIES IN THE WESTERN PROVINCE

    Academic burnout is a growing concern among undergraduates, particularly within the Management Faculties of state universities in Sri Lanka’s Western Province. This study examines the relationship between toxic stress and academic burnout, identifying key contributing factors and proposing effective interventions. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a sample of 350 undergraduates from Management Faculties in the Western Province. Participants completed standardized questionnaires measuring levels of toxic stress and academic burnout. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression to assess the impact of toxic stress on academic burnout. The findings confirm that toxic stress is a significant predictor of academic burnout. Higher levels of toxic stress were associated with increased emotional exhaustion, detachment, and diminished personal achievement. These results underscore the necessity for universities to implement targeted interventions such as counseling services, stress management workshops, and enhanced social support systems to safeguard students’ mental well-being and academic success.

    Study on Educational Advantages of Using Internet in Higher Education

    Internet becomes a basic need especially for the young generation. There are various advantages and disadvantages of using internet. Research problem of this study is; do undergraduates attempt to get the educational advantages of using internet in higher education? And to what extent do undergraduates get the benefits of using internet in their higher education? The main purpose of the study is to identify the educational advantages of using internet in higher education. For the study sample of 125 undergraduates from the Department of Business Management, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka were selected. Relevant data were gathered through conducting direct discussions with the particular respondents. Even though it was very time consuming, it was possible to get more reliable and correct information from the particular participant. Findings suggest that, among the several educational advantages of using internet, powerful tool in e-learning, allows students to read the latest news on certain subjects, and eliminate the barriers for handicapped students who may have trouble getting to a library as most important educational advantages. However, a majority of the students do not get the educational advantages of using internet because of inadequate awareness. So finally it is recommended that the relevant authorities of the universities must take steps on conducting some awareness programs on getting the educational advantages of using internet in higher education. Since majority of the students use internet for social and entertainment purpose it is high time to conduct relevant programs on how to get the educational advantages through use of internet in higher education.

    The Nexus between Educational Attainment and Career Success: A Review

    Depending on the level of success an individual is seeking to achieve, the level of education may be relative, but the bottom line is, an education of some sort is often paramount to future success in both career and life. The impact of educational attainment on career success has been a burning topic in the world of business. Many academics and professionals have narrated on this relationship and among them different facets could be found. Accordingly this study is a thorough literature review of the relationship of educational attainment and career success which some have identified a strong positive relationship whereas the others have not seen a greater impact among the two variables but stressed on other factors affecting career success. This controversy is being reviewed and shows how an individual makes educational decisions. The author has introduced a new model on the relationship for further developments by the future researchers at the end of the study. This model depicts that education solely does not contribute to career success, but the family background, humanitarian and social skills, and work expertise do have a great impact together.
