Item IMPACT OF EMPLOYEE HAPPINESS ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: EVIDENCE FROM THE APPAREL INDUSTRY IN SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Abeyrathna, A.L.C.I.; Gamage, P. N.This study aims to investigate Employee Happiness's impact (in the form of Job Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, and Affective Organizational Commitment) on the Employee Performance of employees who work in well-reputed apparel sector organizations in Sri Lanka. The study's results provide empirical evidence that the three dimensions and overall Employee happiness significantly positively impact Employee performance. This was conducted as a quantitative and cross-sectional study. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire using a simple random sampling technique. Correlation analysis and simple regression analysis were used to measure the relationship and test the study's advanced hypotheses by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The analyzed results show a significant positive impact on Employee performance from Job satisfaction, Employee engagement, and Affective organizational commitment separately while ensuring a significantly positive relationship between overall independent and dependent variables. The results indicate that fair perceptions, particularly those derived from Job Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, and Affective Organizational Commitment, are critical in predicting the occurrence of employees’ performance. Therefore, managers should pay high attention to how they reasonably treat their employees because employees’ Happiness will affect the occurrence of their Performance.Item FACTORS AFFECTING INTENTION TO MIGRATE OF EXECUTIVES IN THE APPAREL INDUSTRY IN SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) De Silva, H.P.D.T.; Gamage, P. N.Earnings from exports and the provision of employment opportunities make the apparel industry in Sri Lanka one of the most important industries in terms of its contribution to the nation’s economy. Still, the percentage of executives willing to migrate has been on the rise due to economic, workload and even career-oriented factors. This study aims to investigate the underlying factors that lead to the willingness to migrate among executives in the apparel sector of Sri Lanka. A quantitative and cross-sectional sample survey was used, and a questionnaire was sent to 165 executives of the organizations. The results were analyzed employing SPSS to compute correlation and regression analysis. The analysis revealed that migration intentions had a significant relationship with job satisfaction, organizational culture, organizational support, career development, compensation, economic conditions and political instability. Research results show that attention needs to be paid to intervention measures that prevent migration, including developing a good organization of the political and economic problems and developing more career opportunities. This research can also serve as a useful contribution for policymakers and industry owners on how best to devise policies designed to deal with migration determinants to improve executive retention and ensure the competitiveness and expansion of the sector.Item IMPACT OF PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT ON ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT: A STUDY OF EXECUTIVES IN A LEADING MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Madhumal, W.A L.S.; Gamage, P. N.This research aimed to analyze the impact of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) on Organizational Commitment (OC) of the executive-level employees of a manufacturing firm in Sri Lanka. Today it is important to ensure commitment from employees to enhance organizational performance, especially for manufacturing companies depending on employee commitment in the global economy. Based on SET, the research aims to find out the relationship between employees’ perception of their organization’s support of their commitment, both affective, normative and continuance. From the research, the study found it suitable to adopt a quantitative research method in which the data was collected through self-developed questionnaires administered to 150 randomly selected executive employees of the organization. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed, and one hundred and ten were returned and considered valid. The statistical analysis used in this study was by means of built-in software SPSS for descriptive, correlational and regression analysis. This study establishes the importance of perceived organizational support as a cognitive process of encouraging organizational commitment as a strategic management tool. It is thus clear that by engaging with the support mechanisms to meet the needs of human resources, organizations foster organizational commitment, hence sustainable competitive advantage.Item Impact of Remote working on Employee Performance of IT Professionals in Sri Lanka: Evidence from Insharp Technologies(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2024) Amarasinghe, P. G. S. R.; Gamage, P. N.This study sought to examine the correlation between Remote working on Employee performance of IT professionals in Insharp technologies. The research objectives were to assess the impact of remote working on the performance of IT professionals at Insharp Technologies, To identify the factors that influence employee performance in a remote work setting, To examine the perceived benefits and challenges of remote working for IT professionals in Sri Lanka and to provide recommendations for both employees and organizations to optimize remote working arrangements in the IT industry.In the context of a competitive and rapidly changing business environment, employee performance is a critical aspect of organizational success and is of particular importance in the context of remote work, which has become increasingly prevalent in recent years. The study considered remote work arrangements and their impact on employee performance, taking into account factors such as technology infrastructure, work-life balance, job satisfaction, and communication. To conduct the research, the study employed stratified sampling as the sampling technique. And selected 50 sample of IT professionals who are working in Insharp Technologies pvt ltd. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS software, employing Descriptive and Regression Analysis as analytical methods. The researcher formulated four hypotheses. The analysis results revealed that employees' Performance of IT Professionals towards Type of Work Arrangement (Remote Work vs. In-Office Work), Factors that influence performance. Perception of Benefits and Challenges. Factors that impact the effectiveness of remote working had a significant Positive influence. This means that when employees displayed the positive correlation between remote work satisfaction and performance ratings suggests that, on the whole, IT professionals perceive remote work as conducive to maintaining or even enhancing their job performance. IT professionals and organizations toward optimizing remote working arrangements. For employees, fostering proactive communication, embracing technology tools, and cultivating a work-life balance are emphasized.Item Perceived Effect of Grievance Handling Procedure on Employee Job Performance at The ABC Lanka Tyres Ltd(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2024) Akas, K.H.S.K.; Gamage, P. N.Grievance handling procedures are very important to the job performance of the employees. Hence this research seeks to determine the perceived effect of grievance handling on job performance at ABC Lanka Tyres Limited. The research problem of this study is that the primary goal of this research is to understand the significant impact of the grievance handling procedure on Employee performance in ABC Lanka Tyres Limited, there weren't many research findings about the Sri Lankan context. The research was carried out using a cross-sectional, quantitative methodology. ABC Lanka Tyres Limited employed a structured questionnaire consisting of 23 questions with a 5-point Likert scale to collect data from 138 employees. The SPSS computer program (version 23.0) was used to analyze the data, and it included regression and correlation analysis. To determine the nature of the link between the variables, Pearson correlation analysis was performed. According to the findings of the research, there is a positive impact of grievance handling on employee job performance of ABC Lanka Tyers Limited employees by using the dimensions of time, decision given, and structures. Those dimensions have a positive relationship with the job performance of the ABC Lanka Tyres Limited employees in Biyagama.Item Factors Affecting the Job Choice Decision of Female Employees in a State Bank in Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2024) Adhikari, A. M. T. N.; Gamage, P. N.The purpose of this research is to identify the factors affecting the job choice decision of female employees in a state bank in Sri Lanka. When considering the current trend prevailing in the employment status in Sri Lanka, it can be identified as male dominance, as female participation in the labour market is at a low level. But contradiction to the prevailing situation, in public sector employment clear female dominance can be observed. With empirical review, it was identified that several variables can affect such a trend. Therefore, this empirical investigation focuses on the job choice decision of female employees as the dependent variable and job security, public service motivation, support for work-life balance, and benefits associated with government sector jobs as independent variables. Then operationalization was done for the identified dimensions and 25 questions were used for evaluating them. The research was quantitative and conducted in a deductive approach. For this study data were collected at a single point and the time horizon was cross-sectional. The target population considered was 320 female employees in a state Bank in Sri Lanka. The sample size was 175. However, 170 completed responses were received and used for analysis and presentation. The SPSS was used for analysis and the data was confirmed through the reliability and validity tests. Pearson Correlation Technique and Multiple Regression Analysis are the statistical techniques that were used to analyse the data of this research. The results of the study imply that the correlations of Job Security, Support for Work-Life Balance, Public Service Motivation, and Benefits Associated with Government Jobs positively correlated with the job choice decision of female employees. Finally, it is identified that there is a positive relationship between the Job Choice Decision of female employees and all the independent variables Job Security, Public Service Motivation, Support for Work-Life Balance, and Benefits Associated with Government Sector Jobs. The findings of this research, it is revealed that female employees highly value the support given by the job to have a smooth work-life balance and same as job security. Due to these factors, female employment was higher than that of male employees in government banking sector jobs. Organizations with sound and good work-life balance policies, proven job security, higher social responsibility, and benefits packages can increase female employee participation. Finally, the findings of this study provide evidence for Human Resource Managing personnel and Top Management in the private sector to pay special attention to these variables in designing their human resource management policies regarding female employees.Item The Impact of Non-Mandatory Training on Employee Performance(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2023) Abeywickrama, B.L.; Gamage, P. N.The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of non-mandatory training on employee performance at ABC Cement. In addition to that, this study intends to identify the relationship between the non-mandatory training and employee performance in ABC Cement. Although there is enough literature on training and development, employee performance, employee productivity, employee efficiency. There is less research context in non-mandatory training, especially in the manufacturing sector. This study explored the relationship and examined the influence of non-mandatory training on employee performance in the manufacturing sector. This research is deductive (theory–testing) research. This research was conducted using a survey research strategy and quantitative research method. Executive level employees of the cement manufacturing company were chosen as the population of the study. The sample size was 200, data collection was done through a selfadministered questionnaire and Convenience sampling technique. A Google form was created and distributed to collect data. The number of employees who responded was 220 out of 400 employees. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 23.0 was used as a tool for data analysis and both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression were used to analyze data. The results indicate that the non-mandatory training has positively impacted the employee performance of the cement manufacturing company.Item The Impact of Communication on Employee Engagement in the Banking Industry in Sri Lanka.(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2023) Abeyrathne, W.S.S.; Gamage, P. Utilizing a survey as the primary data collection method, the study aims to achieve three primary objectives. First, it seeks to identify and analyze the relationship between various communication channels, strategies, and the overall engagement of employees in Sri Lankan banks. Second, the research aims to quantify the current level of employee engagement by employing standardized surveys and exploring key indicators such as job satisfaction, motivation, and commitment. Lastly, the study aims to provide actionable recommendations for enhancing employee engagement based on the identified communication gaps and challenges within the banking industry. By addressing these objectives, the research aims to contribute valuable insights to practitioners, policymakers, and researchers, providing a foundation for informed decisions to foster a positive work environment and elevate organizational effectiveness within the banking sector in Sri Lanka.Item Impact of Employee Mindfulness on Employee Performance and Mediating Effect of Employee Psychological Well-Being of Executives in The Apparel Industry in Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2024) Abeyrathna, N.A.C.D.; Gamage, P. N.The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of employee mindfulness on employee performance and the mediating effect of employee psychological well-being of executives in apparel manufacturing companies located in the Biyagama FTZ of Sri Lanka. In addition to that, this study intends to contribute to filling the knowledge gap and empirical gap by looking into the relationship between employee mindfulness and employee performance with evidence from the literature. There is less research context in Sri Lanka to test the Employee Mindfulness, Employee performance, and employee psychological well-being of apparel manufacturing companies located in the Biyagama FTZ of Sri Lanka. This study examined the relationship between Employee Mindfulness on Employee performance & mediating effect of Employee psychological well-being in apparel manufacturing companies located in the Biyagama FTZ of Sri Lanka. This research is deductive (theory–testing) research. This was a quantitative and cross-sectional study which was based on an organization in Apparel industry employees. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a convenient sampling technique. Correlation analysis and simple regression analysis were used to measure the relationship and to test the advanced hypotheses of the study by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The analyzed results show that there is a significant positive impact on employee mindfulness and employee performance while there is a significant impact of employee psychological wellbeing as a mediator on the relationship between employee mindfulness and employee performance. Furthermore, this study is a move for organizational management to take necessary actions to maintain better employee mindfulness within the organization with the support of supervisors and peers. It will lead to more productive, effective, and Performative employees and decrease the high absenteeism and turnover within the organization. Moreover, this study was limited only to one company in the apparel industry in Sri Lanka. Therefore, the current study suggested that to conduct the study by considering all organizations in the business world within Sri Lanka to get an effective output from future research.Item Impact of Flexible Working Arrangements on Work-Life Enrichment: Evidence from a Leading Information Technology Firm in Sri Lanka(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2022) Athukorala, D. A. M.; Gamage, P. N.Businesses today are under greater pressure to perform better than they did in the past due to the harsh business environment. In order for employees to increase and improve their performance, firms are motivated to design better work schedules for them. Companies all across the world are developing ideas for how to improve workers' performance. It is becoming more popular to motivate employees by emphasizing the advantages of work-life enrichment. The main goal of this study was to investigate the effects of flexible working arrangements on the work-life enrichment of employees working in ABC IT Company, Sri Lanka. The technique used was a systematic review, which involved scanning a Google Scholar database for relevant material. Results of a study on work-life enrichment were gathered via a search of the literature from 2011 to 2021. There were three articles with qualitative research and 19 publications with the former. Numerous studies have demonstrated that when the work environment is positive, the company gives the family more consideration, resulting in employees who exhibit a high level of work-life enrichment. Employees who have a rich work life are more likely to have faith in their company. The intention to leave the organization is driven by trust, which functions as a managerial or organizational resource. In order to achieve this goal, researchers gathered information from 189 IT workers at ABC IT Company in Sri Lanka. With the use of SPSS, data were examined using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression. According to the study's findings, flexible working arrangements have a major impact on work-life enrichment, and as flexible working arrangements improve, employee work-life enrichment will also rise. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
