    The Impact of Work-Life Balance on Job Performance: A Study of Executive Level Employees in Apparel Industry in Sri Lanka

    This study assesses the impact of work-life balance on job performance of executive level employees in apparel industry in Sri Lanka. This is a cross sectional study. A positive relationship between work-life balance and job performance was hypothesized. A standard questionnaire was used to collect primary data. Simple random sampling was applied and final sample consisted of 80 executive level employees from two apparel sector organizations. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, reliability and regression were used to analyze the data and prepare the conclusion and the data was analyzed by SPSS 23.0. Findings revealed that there is a 34.7% of significant impact of work-life balance on employee job performance in the tested domain

    The Impact of Work-Life Balance on Career Advancement of Executive Level Female Employees in ABC Company

    The main objective of this study is to find out the impact of work-life balance on the career advancement of executive level women employees in a Sri Lankan Apparel company. This study further emphasized to find out the relationship between work-life balance and women’s career advancement, to find out the impact of work-life balance on women’s career advancement, finally to provide solutions for balance work-life while advancing their careers. The sample size of the research was 76 executive level female employees who currently work in the ABC Apparel Company and this sample was selected using the simple random sampling method. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted as quantitative research. A standard questionnaire was used to collect primary data. Descriptive statistics, Reliability, Pearson Correlation and Simple Linear Regression were used for analyzing the data and make conclusions. The main limitation of this research was the limited time frame. Findings for the research questions revealed that there is a weak positive relationship between the work-life balance and women’s career advancement. Further, there had a 9.5% significant impact of work-life balance on women’s career advancement in the ABC Apparel Company and also concluded that there is a 9.5% variation of work-life balance on women’s career advancement and the remaining unexplained 90.5% could be due to other factors which are not considered in this study. Finally, the female employee who is working in the ABC Apparel Company has a moderate work-life balance and very high career advancement. Also the researcher recommended in implementing a supportive culture, which provides work-life benefits and opportunities for their female executives while providing proper career paths which they can advance in their career as well.

    Impact of Work-Life Balance on Employee Engagement of Dual Career Couples in the Banking Sector

    The main focus of this study was to identify the impact of work-life balance on employee engagement of dual career couples in the banking sector Sri Lanka. And also research was designed to investigate the relationship between work-life balance and employee engagement of dual career couples in the banking sector. In this study, the concept “work-life balance” was covered from three dimensions; personality, job stress and spousal support. A standard questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. The participants were non-executive staff members of selected domestic licensed commercial banks in Colombo region. The final sample consisted with 84 non-executive staff members covering both state and private banks and it was represented by Fifty Four percent (54%) females and Forty Six percent (46%) males whose spouse is full time employed. The research findings were analyzed by using statistical analysis methods. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant impact of work-life balance on employee engagement of dual career couples in the banking sector Sri Lanka. And also findings revealed a positive significant relationship between work-life balance and employee engagement of dual career couples in the banking sector. Further it was found that the work-life balance dimensions; personality, job stress and spousal support has a significant impact on employee engagement of dual career couples in the banking sector. These findings provide evidence that work-life balance plays an important role in achieving employee engagement in an organization.
