Item IMPACT OF PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT ON NURSES’ WORKPLACE LONELINESS: EXAMINING THE MEDIATING ROLE OF WORK ALIENATION IN PRIVATE HOSPITALS IN THE GAMPAHA DISTRICT, SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Dissanayaka, D.M.G.K.; Ranasinghe, V.R.The purpose of this study is to investigate how perceived social support impacts workplace loneliness among nurses in private hospitals in the Gampaha district, with work alienation acting as a mediating variable. Although there is extensive literature on workplace loneliness, perceived social support, work alienation, and its psychological consequences, research into Sri Lanka's private healthcare industry is limited. In particular, the effects of perceived social support on workplace loneliness, with work alienation acting as a mediator, have not been thoroughly explored among nurses in private hospitals. This research is deductive research. This research was conducted using a survey research strategy and quantitative research method. The study targeted 316 nurses from four private hospitals in the Gampaha district and was carried out as a cross-sectional study with a sample size of 169 nurses selected through simple random sampling. A standardized questionnaire was administered online through Google Forms to obtain primary data. The data was analyzed with SPSS, which used correlation, regression, and descriptive statistics to assess the associations between the variables. The data show a significant negative relationship between perceived social support and workplace loneliness, as well as perceived social support and work alienation. Conversely, there was a significant positive correlation between work alienation and workplace loneliness. Furthermore, work alienation was found to be a significant mediator in the relationship between perceived social support and workplace loneliness. These findings highlight the crucial role of social support systems in promoting occupational well-being and reducing feelings of alienation among healthcare workers. The study has practical relevance for hospital administrators in designing and implementing interventions that enhance supportive work environments, hence increasing employee satisfaction and retention.Item IMPACT OF WORKLOAD ON JOB STRESS AMONG NURSES IN GENERAL HOSPITALS IN KEGALLE DISTRICT WITH THE MODERATING ROLE OF LOCUS OF CONTROL(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Kulathunga K.P.N.; Gunasekara V.M.The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of workload on job stress among nurses in general hospitals in the Kegalle District. In addition to that, this study intends to contribute to filling the knowledge gap by looking into the relationship between workload and job stress among nurses. Although there is literature on workload, job stress and locus of control in the western context, there is a dearth of research in the Sri Lankan context to test the impact of workload on job stress among nurses in general hospitals. This study explored the relationship and examined the impact of workload on job stress among nurses who work in general hospitals in Kegalle District while considering the locus of control as the moderator. This research is deductive (theory–testing) research. The research was conducted using a survey research strategy and quantitative research method. General hospital nurses in the Kegalle District were chosen as the population of the study. The sample size was 265 and data collection was done through a self-administered questionnaire. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 23.0, was used as a tool for data analysis, and both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression were used to analyze data. The results indicate that there is a positive impact of workload on job stress among nurses in general hospitals in Kegalle District, and locus of control does not moderate the relationship between workload and job stress among nurses.Item IMPACT OF WELLNESS PROGRAMS ON JOB STRESS AND EMOTIONAL EXHAUSTION: A STUDY OF NURSES IN A LEADING PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Kandege, K.A.V.K.; Wijewantha, P.This study examines the impact of wellness programs on emotional exhaustion and job stress among nurses, with a specific focus on a leading private hospital. A total of 100 nurses were initially targeted, and 93 responded, but consider the 75 respondents because of appear the outliner. Providing the sample size for this study. Quantitative data were collected using a self-structured questionnaire. Specifically, the study employed a simple regression model and Correlation Matrix in SPSS Analytical software to determine the impact of the independent variables on the dependent variables. Also, mediator effect is analysis by online calculator. The results of the analysis indicate a statistically significant positive relationship. Future research should consider increasing the sample size and expanding the geographic scope to validate and generalize these findings across all the hospitals of Sri Lanka.
