Item IMPACT OF PERCEIVED SOCIAL SUPPORT ON NURSES’ WORKPLACE LONELINESS: EXAMINING THE MEDIATING ROLE OF WORK ALIENATION IN PRIVATE HOSPITALS IN THE GAMPAHA DISTRICT, SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Dissanayaka, D.M.G.K.; Ranasinghe, V.R.The purpose of this study is to investigate how perceived social support impacts workplace loneliness among nurses in private hospitals in the Gampaha district, with work alienation acting as a mediating variable. Although there is extensive literature on workplace loneliness, perceived social support, work alienation, and its psychological consequences, research into Sri Lanka's private healthcare industry is limited. In particular, the effects of perceived social support on workplace loneliness, with work alienation acting as a mediator, have not been thoroughly explored among nurses in private hospitals. This research is deductive research. This research was conducted using a survey research strategy and quantitative research method. The study targeted 316 nurses from four private hospitals in the Gampaha district and was carried out as a cross-sectional study with a sample size of 169 nurses selected through simple random sampling. A standardized questionnaire was administered online through Google Forms to obtain primary data. The data was analyzed with SPSS, which used correlation, regression, and descriptive statistics to assess the associations between the variables. The data show a significant negative relationship between perceived social support and workplace loneliness, as well as perceived social support and work alienation. Conversely, there was a significant positive correlation between work alienation and workplace loneliness. Furthermore, work alienation was found to be a significant mediator in the relationship between perceived social support and workplace loneliness. These findings highlight the crucial role of social support systems in promoting occupational well-being and reducing feelings of alienation among healthcare workers. The study has practical relevance for hospital administrators in designing and implementing interventions that enhance supportive work environments, hence increasing employee satisfaction and retention.Item IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA OSTRACISM ON EMPLOYEE EMOTIONAL EXHAUSTION IN IT INDUSTRY COMPANIES IN COLOMBO DISTRICT SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Abdullah, R.; Ranasinghe, V.R.The purpose of this Study examines to explore the effects of social media ostracism on employee emotional exhaustion in the context of employees in IT related firms operating in Colombo District, Sri Lanka. Working in the context of exclusion through different forms of social media ostracism at the workplace has become a major issue and an important predictor of psychological climate for employee well-being. The research investigates this phenomenon through two key dimensions: the part played by Variables: avoidance and social media exclusion, on the emotional exhaustion experienced by the employees. The present study was, therefore, a quantitative study in terms of the research approach, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to IT professionals in the Colombo District. Only Company Employees at the operational Level are included in these 620 populations. 244 sample size is selected through Simple random sampling technique. Employing correlation and regression analysis, the collected data was used to establish the effects of social media ostracism on employee emotional exhaustion. As such, the findings show there is statistically significant positive impact between social media ostracism and employee emotional exhaustion. Afterward, both the dimensions, avoidance and social media exclusion, were also established to predict ‘emotional exhaustion’. The current paper adds to the scarce research regarding the psychological effects of technology-mediated communication in the Sri Lankan IT industry and provides practical implications for enhancing the psychological well-being of employees.Item IMPACT OF WORKPLACE HARASSMENT ON EMPLOYEE TURNOVER INTENTION: EXAMINING THE MEDIATING ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL CYNICISM IN GARMENT FACTORIES IN GAMPAHA DISTRICT, SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Nawarathna, N.P.D.D.; Ranasinghe, V.R.The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of workplace harassment on employee turnover intentions in the apparel Manufacturing Organizations in garment factories in Gampaha district, Sri Lanka. with the mediation role of cynicism within the organizational context. This research takes a quantitative approach with a positivist structure and develops a structured questionnaire in English and Sinhala for employees in the sewing sections of four garments in the Gampaha district. The study focuses on the entire population of 441 employees, and a sample size of 205 was derived from Krejcie and Morgan's table. Simple random sampling was employed, and data analysis was performed using SPSS version 30, including validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analysis. The research results indicated that workplace harassment has a considerable effect on employee turnover intentions and organizational cynicism. Moreover, organizational cynicism acts as a significant mediator between workplace harassment and employee turnover intentions. These findings highlight the importance of addressing workplace harassment and improving the culture within organizations to reduce turnover intentions in the garment industry. Such insights draw valuable guidelines from the study to policymakers and practitioners in the Sri Lankan garment sector to promote employee retention and organizational well-being.Item THE ROLE OF GREEN ATTITUDE ON THE IMPACT OF GREEN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ON EMPLOYEE GREEN BEHAVIOR: EVIDENCE FROM APPAREL SECTOR ORGANIZATIONS IN GAMPAHA DISTRICT, SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Dilhani T.H.S.; Ranasinghe, V.R.The purpose of this study is to investigate how Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices influence the green behaviour of employees in the apparel sector organizations in Gampaha district, Sri Lanka and examine the mediating role of green attitudes. This research study adopts a quantitative research approach grounded in the positivist research philosophy. This study distributed a standardized questionnaire through Google Forms and printed documents to collect primary data. A mono-method approach is employed, focusing on individual employees in the apparel industry as the unit of analysis. The study targets a population of 2,400 employees working in three apparel sector companies in the Gampaha district. Based on Krejcie and Morgan's table, a sample size of 331 was determined, with 370 questionnaires distributed. Of these, 334 responses were received, 18 were discarded, and 309 were considered valid, resulting in an effective response rate of 90.27%. Simple random sampling was used as the sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 20, analyzing techniques tools and techniques such as validity and reliability statistics, testing for outliers, descriptive statistics, normality testing, sample composition analysis, correlation, and regression. Further, the analysis has shown that green human resource management has an impact on green attitude as well as green behaviour, the green attitude has an impact on green behaviour. Further, the findings of the analysis disclosed that the green attitude partially mediates the impact of green human resource management on green behaviour. The findings of this study provide significant insight to apparel sector companies who wish to implement and perform green human resource management to enhance environmental sustainability in the business.Item IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL JUSTICE & TASK VISIBILITY ON COWORKER SOCIAL LOAFING: A STUDY OF EXECUTIVE LEVEL EMPLOYEES IN ALL THE OUTLETS UNDER LEADING TEXTILE MANUFACTURING COMPANY(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Fonseka W.H.H.; Ranasinghe, V.R.This study examines the influence of organizational justice and task visibility on peer social loafing in the Apparel sector. Social loafing, where effort is reduced in groups, affects teamwork performance and organizational performance. This is a quantitative and cross-sectional study that was conducted with 304 executive employees of a large textile manufacturing company. 170 sample size is selected through Simple random sampling technique. The data was analyzed with SPSS, which used correlation, regression, and descriptive statistics to assess the associations between the variables. The findings of this research, therefore, advocate for the reduction of social loafing among coworkers in organized settings; that is, by enhancing organizational justice and increasing the visibility of tasks in the workplace to increase the necessary engagement and accountability in the team settings. The results emphasize the significance of fairness and transparency in improving team performance and reducing counterproductive work behaviors. Organizations can enhance cooperation through fair resource allocation, transparent task assignment, and efficient performance monitoring. This research adds to the knowledge of group dynamics and provides practical recommendations for enhancing workplace cooperation.Item IMPACT OF DIGITAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS ON EMPLOYEE’S PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING: A STUDY OF EMPLOYEES IN APPAREL INDUSTRY, COLOMBO DISTRICT, SRI LANKA(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Sadhana, J.; Ranasinghe, V.R.In times of rapid digital transformation, fast development, and technological growth, more and more organizations rely on digital leadership to help navigate the complexity of modern-day workplaces and ensure employees' psychological well-being. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between digital leadership skills and employee’s psychological well-being. This study investigates the impact of digital leadership skills on employees' psychological well-being within the apparel industry in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This research is deductive. This research was conducted using a survey research strategy and quantitative research method. The sample size was 392, data collection was done through a self-administered questionnaire and convenience sampling technique. A Google form was created and distributed to collect data. The number of employees who responded was 310 among 392 employees. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23.0 was used as a tool for data analysis and both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression were used to analyze data. The results indicate that digital leadership skills have a positive relationship with employee’s psychological well-being.Item IMPACT OF EMPLOYEE MINDFULNESS ON INTENTION TO TURNOVER: MEDIATING ROLE OF EMPLOYEE PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka., 2025) Wijekoon, W.M.V.P.; Ranasinghe, V.R.The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of employee mindfulness and psychological well-being on the intention to leave among employees in insurance organizations in the Colombo district, Sri Lanka. Although there is sufficient literature on employee stress and turnover in Western contexts, there is limited research on the Sri Lankan insurance sector, especially in the context of the ongoing economic recession. This research is deductive and was conducted using a survey research strategy and a quantitative research method. The population of the study comprised 380 employees, and data was collected through a structured self-administered questionnaire using a convenience sampling technique. The researcher utilized a simple random sample approach with a sample size of 191, achieving an effective response rate of 95.50%. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used as a tool for data analysis, employing both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression analyses. The results indicated that employee mindfulness has a significant negative impact on employee intention to turnover. Furthermore, employee psychological well-being significantly mediates the relationship between employee mindfulness and intention to turnover. These findings suggest that organizational management should focus on enhancing employee mindfulness and psychological well-being with the support of supervisors and peers to reduce turnover rates. However, this study was limited to a single district and a specific industry in Sri Lanka. Therefore, it is recommended that future research consider a broader range of industries and geographic areas to provide more comprehensive insights.
