    Gender Variation and Implementation ICT of Information Services.

    This study examined the gender variation and the implementation of ICT of information services provided in Engineering College in Din Digul Region in Tamilnadu, India. The present study demonstrates and elaborates the primary the purpose of using ICT enabled library services, to assess to what extent users are utilized ICT based library services and facilities. The paper also determines the satisfaction level of users regarding research work, online database services and infrastructure facilities. Most of the students use the information service for education purposes and for checking website. 64 percentages of the respondents are male and 36 percentages of the respondents are Female. 81 (37.5%) of the respondents are using the information systems for studying purpose. 93 respondents spend one hour for the website usage. 80 (37.04%) of the respondents are accessing at night only. The co-efficient correction positive and their relationship are perfect for the implementation and helps to save space. It is clear that there are numerous factors that hinder Gender equity in the implementations of Information Technology sector. Some of the factors are intertwined; i.e. the impacts of one factor directly affect another factor, which consequently affects the female imbalance towards Information Technology related careers. On the other hand, these problems can be addressed by application of the counter measures elucidated. In fact, the use of these solutions cannot eradicate this imbalance completely. As many efforts to eradicate the obstacles are attempted, more barriers emerge. It is therefore concluded that it should be a gradual process. Minimal barriers are expected in the end.

    Use of ICT for Reader Services in University Libraries: Kelaniya, Jayawardhanapura and Open University in Sri Lanka.

    “Library is a Growing Organism as according to Ranganathan. Present day society is categorized Information Society. Therefore, ICT is an important thing for all communities. The Knowledge is door of the Libraries in country. The main objective of thestudy is to examine the use of ICT for reader services in libraries. The study based on survey method. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Microsoft Excel was used analyzed the collected data. Under the survey research method, three Universities of Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardanapura and Open University were used as the sample. Comprising 300 students in universities. Result show that most of the students use ICT library services in universities. But libraries are not adequately using ICT for their reader services in universities. University libraries provide e database, e journals, e books for their readers as user services. University librarians should use more ICT techniques an application is providing their reader services. The time has come introduce more training and awareness programmes, Workshops and Seminars for using ICT in the use of reader services in university libraries in Sri Lanka.

    The Purpose of Using Journals and Difficulties they are facing among Management Students in Sri Lankan Universities.

    Among many Information resources, Journal is important source for access to latest information. “A periodical devoted to disseminating original research and commentary on current developments in a specific discipline, sub discipline, or field of studyusually published in quarterly, bimonthly, or monthly issues sold by subscription. Journal articles are usually written by the person (or persons) who conducted the research.” (Online Dictionary of Library and Information Science) The main objectives of the study are to identify objectives and need of using journals by management students and find out issues of they have to face. The study based on survey method. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Microsoft Excel was used analyzed the collected data. Under the survey research method, two Universities of Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardanapura were used as the sample. Used 100 management students in both of universities. As the result of the study, most of the students used journal for needs of assignments. Issues of they have to face are lack of awareness of management journals in library, they have to spend more time to find journal article which they want. The study suggest that Raising awareness of readers about the co-ordination of periodical sectional journals and also the seekingof journal. Using the systematic and continual searching tricks and methods for easing off the accession into journals and articles. Presenting the newly bought journals for readers and publishing hand book consisted information of periodical section for raising awareness of users about latest journal by the library.
