There are two peak seasons for Dengue transmission in Sri Lanka: one is from October to December; another is from May to July. A mosquito repellent doesn't actually kill mosquitoes. Repellents work by making people less attractive to mosquitoes, so they're less likely to bite above chemicals may harm to the skin and respiratory system badly. But there are other options that are deemed "natural" because they are derived from natural materials such as plants.Impregnated with naturally repellent essential oils, the aromatic bands are designed to drive away mosquetos without saturating the skin with repellents. They smell strong, can be sniffed from up to 10 feet away,for more than 20-30 minutes and are nontoxic and adjustable to fit children through adults.They smell good and instill confidence in their active ingredients, but we still found ourselves the time which need exact mosquitoes and gnats repllent. As ingredients of this device we used mixture of citronella oil, cedar oil, lemon-grass oil and coconut oil geranium oil, clove oil,neem oil and known herbal repellents maduruthala,Agil,suduhadun,gugul, katphala, jatamansha, dummala that all derived from plants.the combination of herbo-electronic mosquito repellers, devices fit with repellent mats which release chemicals. The chemicals are heated by a fuel cartridge or circulated by a battery-powered fan. this one does not produce any foul smell, nor should the stuff be applied on the skin or clothes. Repellents have prevented countless cases of malaria, dengue. Transmission by arthropods fever, encephalitis, and other mosquito-borne diseases. Chemical substances that have repellent effects enable us to go places and do things in insect- and disease-infested areas while avoiding disease and it purified of air and that can be used as a air sterilizer in domestic environments and.Item Management of Acne vulgaris (Mukha dushika) with Ayurveda treatment modality: A case study(Young Ayurveda Researchers' and Innovators' Symposium (YARIS – 2019), Institutional Research Committee, Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, University of Kelaniya, Yakkala, Sri Lanka, 2019) Wasana, P.D.L.; Dharmavijaya, P.K.H.Acne is a common skin disease especially in adolescents and young adults. Significant psychosocial effects such as depression and poor personality development have been linked with acne. Various causative factors as well as physical and psychological factors have been contributed towards acne. Various treatment methods of acne including surgery, laser treatments, antibiotics and topical applications and cosmetics products with chemicals are associated with many side effects. In Ayurveda, acne resembles as Mukha dusika and also has broad management procedure including external and internal treatment with congenial diet and lifestyle (Pathyapathya). A 27 years old female patient presented in OPD at Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Yakkala with the complaint of pimples on bilateral face associated with pain for 3years. The patient was prescribed poly herbal formulated decoction including Shreshta Nimba, Gayathri Thriphala, Ushiran Chandanan, Shatawari Gopakanya for each in 14 days and Khaishor Guggulu, Thriphala vati in required dose for each in 30 days respectively as internal administration. As an external application, purification of face with juice of Nimba leaves and wet turmeric and application of the paste of Dashangalepa powder mixed with king coconut water, rose water were done respectively each in 14 days. In addition, Pathyapathya was prescribed. After two months of treatment period, pimples were reduced from severe to mild stage. It was observed 100% relief of reduction of pain. According to above data, it was found that there was a significant difference between before and after treatments. Based on the above finding, it can be concluded that the treatment protocol is effective for Acne Vulgaris (Mukha dushika).Item A post-treatment assessment on the quality of life of Prameha (Diabetic) patients; a study conducted at Prameha clinic in Bandaranaike Memorial Ayurveda Research Institute(Young Ayurveda Researchers' and Innovators' Symposium (YARIS – 2019), Institutional Research Committee, Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, University of Kelaniya, Yakkala, Sri Lanka, 2019) Wasana, P.D.L.; Dilupa, M.K.N.; Madusanka, B.P.R.; Wijekumara, A.B.A.T.; Herath, H.M.N.P.; Asna, M.S.F.; Weerapana, W.; Mendis, R.; Kahingala, P.; Hewagamage, P.; Attanayake, S.According to Ayurveda, Prameha refers to the passing of urine, qualified by prefix “Pra”, the excess in both frequency and quantity .The name Prameha is self-explanatory, which means “Prabhuthamutrata” (excessive urination) and “Avilamutratha” (Turbid urine). There are twenty types of Prameha. All types of urinary abnormalities are developed to Madhumeha, unless treated in early diagnosis and it becomes incurable. Diabetes mellitus resembles with Prameha in signs and symptoms. Diabetes is multifactorial disease which emerges as an irreversible outcome of a combination of metabolic and modifiable risk factors and is one of the leading non communicable diseases (NCDs) that affects morbidity, mortality and disability in the world. Diabetes is divided into 2 major subgroups as, Type I Diabetes mellitus (Insulin Deficiency) and Type II Diabetes mellitus (Insulin Resistant). It is mainly driven by unhealthy diets, insufficient physical activities, obesity and overweight. Quality of life is the general well-being of individuals and societies, outlining negative and positive features of life. It observes life satisfaction, including everything from physical health, family, education, employment, wealth, safety, security, freedom, religious beliefs, finance and the environment. This study was designed to identify the quality of life of Prameha patients who received Ayurveda treatment at Prameha Clinic in Bandaranaike Memorial Ayurveda Research Institute, Navinna, Sri Lanka. Cross- descriptive research (prospective study) was carried out at Prameha Clinic in this institute and accessed by 50 Prameha (diabetic) patients with SF 36 stranded questionnaire distributed among those who received treatment only under Ayurveda drug modalities. According to data analysis of the variables of general health, limitations of activities, physical health, emotional health problems, social activities, pain and energy and emotions the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted at the significant level p<0.05. It can be concluded that there was an improvement of quality of life of the subjected patients.Item Review on effectiveness of the Ingredients of Pathya Prithvi Decoction in Urdava jathrugatha roga(Proceeding of 5th International & 16th National Conference on Shalakyatantra, The Association of Shalaki (TAS), Pune, India 2019, 2019) Wasana, P.D.L.; Peiris, K.P.P.; Wakkumbura, H.P.Pathya Prtvi decoction is poly herbal formulation commonly used for Däha,Grahani, Karna and Shirah roga which consists of 13 ingredients i.e. Pathya (Terminalia chebula), Prthvi (Elettaria cardamomum), Paraga (Oldenlandia corymbosa Linn.), Chandana (Santalum album Linn.), Kataka (Strychnos potatorum Linn), Ushera (Vetiveria zizaniodes), Shunti (Zingiber officinale Rose.),Varala (Eugenia caryophllus Thumb.),Yashti (Glycyrrhiza glabra Linn), Jeraka (Cuminum cyminum Linn.),Upakulya (Piper longum Linn.), Jarana (Nigella sativa Linn.), Bilva mula (Algae marmelos Linn.). This study is carried out to review on effectiveness of the ingredients of Pathya Prtvi decoction in Urdhavajatrugatha Roga. Ayurveda properties and therapeutic potentials of 1 3 ingredients were reviewed from related text books in Ayurveda, published articles and journals, According to collected data from Ayurveda, asPanchapadärtha,mainIycontain51.4% of Madura rasa; 59% ofLaghuguna; 66.66% ofUshnavirya; 75% of Katuvipaka; as Prabhava, have Thridosaharain Pathyaand Chakshusyain Kataka. According to Dosanurupa karma, contain 37.09% of Kaphashamaka, 32.25%of Vatashamaka and 30.64% of Pitta shamaka property. Therapeutic actions of the ingredients which are related to Urdhavajatrugatha roga are Vedana Sthapana, Kaphagna, Kaphanissaraka, Kaphaputihara,Swasahara,Khsayahara, Shirovirechana, Jwaragna, Deepana, Pachana, Uttejaka, Mukhadaurgandhanasaka, Rakthastambhaka,Chakshusya, Keshya, Kantya, and Dahaprasamana.Maintherapeutic application of the ingredients are Kaphapittaja, Kaphavataja and Thridosaja roga including Shiroroga (Shirahshula, Pittajashula, Khalitya); Karna roga (Karnashula); Netra roga (Drustimandya, Abhisyandya); Pranaavhasrothasgatha roga (Prathisya, Kasa, Swasa, Kshaya, Rajayakshma, Hikka); Khantaroga (Swarabheda, Khantashosha); Mukharoga (Mukhadurganda, Dantashula, Mukhashosha); Urdavagatha Rakthapittaas Urdhavajatrugatha Roga. According to review on therapeutic potential, majority of ingredients have analgesic, anti- inflammatory,anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-cancer, anti-asthmatic, anti-spasmodic, anti-pyretic activities. Further clinical studies are required to determine the therapeutic potential as well as effectiveness in ingredients of Pathyaprtvi decoction in above Urdhavajatrugatha Roga.
