A study on good effects of face book (FB) on secondary education in Sri Lanka (With reference to Anuradhapura district and Colombo district school students)

Abstract

Face book (FB) is currently considered a popular online social network all over the world. Especially students who are still schooling are interested very much to deal with face book as an online path to connect with their friends and other people in their lives. But today, the bad effects of this social network outweigh the good effects. But if the user has the understanding, he or she can get the benefits of Face Book for their day to day activities clearly. This study discusses the good effects of FB on secondary education, with reference to Anuradhapura district and Colombo district school students. The main objective of the study was to investigate the good effects of FB on secondary education. Other purposes were to explore the students‟ attitude towards FB and to explore the usage of FB. The method of this research was a comparative method and the population of the study was the school students of Anuradhapura and Colombo districts. Thirty (30) students in grade eleven (11) who are following Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a subject from each district were selected as the sample.
