dc.description.abstractCartoon films are once in which individual drawings, paintings, or illustrations are photographed frame by frame. Cartoon films created for the cinema, television or computer screen, featuring some kind of story or plot. Although it can use many different types of animation. With the introduction of computers, animation took on a whole new meaning. Many features films of today had animation incorporated into them for special effects. Cartoon films are often directed to, or appeal most to children, but easily can be enjoyed by all. The objective of this research is to identify Sri Lankan cartoon films, Inventors and technology. The methodology of this research is comprised with two vital researche method. They are comparative method and case study method. Interviews and Observations are used as tools of data collection. Secondary data were collected from soureces such as relevant books, magazines, newspapers and internet. Mr. Daya karunarathne was the father of Sri Lankan cartoon films. In Sri Lankan television, firstly used imported cartoon films. The advent of film technology opened opportunities to develop the art of cartoon films. Today animation cartoon is commonly produes with computers. Computer animation encompasses a variety of techniques, the unifying factor being that the animation is created digitally on a computer. Now cartoon films have been very popular in television commercials, both due to its graphic appeal, and the humour it can provide.en_US
