Background: Despite being the third most prevalent psychiatric disorder, social phobia remains to be under -diagnosed due to multiple reasons. Although many screening instruments are available in English language, up to date no instrument has been translated in to Sinhalese or its cultural relevance studied. Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale(LSAS-SR) is one of the most widely used scales to screen for social phobia and it evaluates fear and avoidance symptoms associated with the above disorder.en_US
