Abstract: Due to concerns about environmental sustainability, electronic waste has become a significant global issue. The Information Technology (IT) industry is significantly affected on the environment, as its growth of utilization is caused by huge energy consumption's. Evidence has shown a lack of research that lead to drives to use of Green Information Technology (Green IT). The absence of a practices strategy for addressing environmental challenges has been identified as the most significant gap in Green IT. Hence, Green IT has therefore become one of the latest considerations to improve a business's environmental sustainability whilst reducing the cost of IT operations. We discuss opportunities and challenges for IT. Therefore, to reduce the impact of IT on the environment, we propose a Green IT practices strategy.
