Abstract: Ayurveda is an ancientscience. Sushrutha known as father of surgery has described various surgical and para surgical procedures indicated in Urdhvachatrgata roga. Agni karma, kshara karma and Rakthamokshana are the three types of para surgical procedures. These procedures are specially indicated according to stage and dosha predominance. Urdhvachatr.gata Rogaare defined as the diseases which occur above the clavicle. There are Akshiroga, Karnaroga, Mukharoga, Shiroroga, and Nasaroga. Para surgical procedures have been indicated for different diseases that cannot be cured by any medication or where surgery is not possible to treat the condition or these is great chance of recurrence of disease. Para surgical methods are effective, easy to apply in the management of Urdhvachatrgata Roga, easy to perform, less chance of recurrence, sutureless, less post-operative hemorrhage and minimal pain. The purpose of this review is to evaluate and discuss the utility and probable mode of action of para surgical procedures used in Urdhvachatr.gäta Rogain scientific manner. All the gathered information was collected and complied fromSamhita, research papers and journals of Ayurveda.kshara is applied externally in cases of external abscess, seven diseases of mouth such as upajihva, adhijihva, upakusha, dantavaidarbha and three types of rohini.Agni karma canbe applied for diseases such as lagana, upapakshma and Adhimantha and shiroroga. Rakthamokshana can be applied for diseases such as galaganda, adhimantha, puyalasa, svarnasukla. Among all Urdhvachatrgata Roga, Rakthamokshana is indicated in majority of Raktha and Pitta vitiated disease condition, Kshara is indicated in Tridoshaja diseases and Agni karma is indicated in Vata and Kapha vitiated disease condition.
