Abstract: The role of emerging technologies, the librarians should develop their technical skills and also to create an innovative and enabled service to meet the latest needs of the today and future young generation. The librarian is to serve as a leader in identification, implementation, and evaluation of new technologies and their use in the library setting. They then adapt the technologies so that they become innovative solutions within the library setting to evolve reference, instruction, and access services models. This paper discusses the technological skills which are essential for librarians. Topics under this sub-theme are: -Library automation, Database Development, Standards and Protocol, Search Engines, Electronic Document Delivery, Digital library. This paper also discusses the Emerging Technologies for Librarians, the skills needed for Librarians and Changing Role of Librarians in the New Digital Environment.
