dc.description.abstractIn the present scenario, the usage of Open source learning resources have become popular and the most chosen way of learning subjects among the academicians, students and research scholars. The Government of India had initiated a Project titled “Spoken tutorial” through the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) funded by National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) to promote the learning of subjects of many disciplines through ICT technology at free of cost. The course contents are organized in form of short videos in multi lingual format so that learners can easily download the videos and play it any form of digital gadgets. The technology enables the learners to learn at their own pace even without the support of teachers. It is an interactive type of learning where learner can practice the concepts by watching the videos. The objectives of this study are, The number of courses offered by spoken tutorial in different disciplines, It probes the number of institutions that offer Spoken tutorial training to the students, It also finds the number of courses offered, institution wise, It finds the Institute which ranks first among the colleges in Tamilnadu, It finds the State which ranks first among the states in India in offering the Spoken tutorial courses and It probes the total number of participants who registered for the course and the number of participants who successfully completed. This study helps to find the reach of the Open source LRM among the faculty and students. It will be useful in promoting awareness among students and faculty to learn the new courses by making use of the online learning materials.en_US
