Sri Lankan Tamil and Sinhala are two distinct languages which hold language specific features. In Sri Lanka, to identify phonological error patterns in clinical practice, clinicians use normative data developed for English-speaking children. These language specific features and the social dialect variations may influence the phonological error patterns that are typical for the speakers of Sri Lankan Tamil and Sinhala. It is essential to document normative data for Sinhala and Sri Lankan Tamil as it will be useful in differential diagnosis of phonological delays and disorders.en_US
