dc.description.abstractA Research Study on the Usage and Production of the Sri Lankan Drums. Introduction In Sri Lanka, there are traditional playing techniques and methods of drums that have been evolving in relation to Buddhist rituals. It is expected to study excessively the rituals, playing styles, new creations and their structures that are followed by the present generation in the above context. Thesis statement To see whether there is a scientific base for the playing techniques of the Sri Lankan drums and to find out the traditional techniques followed in producing local drums. Hypothesis There is a scientific base for the playing techniques and production of the Sri Lankan drums Objectives The objectives deal with finding out the historical background of the Sri Lankan drums, rituals in relation to the production of the local drums and the playing styles. Significance of the study To make it possible for the future generation to refer a detailed study on the Sri Lankan drums.en_US
