dc.description.abstract Sri Lanka is known as the country with very low enrolment ratio in tertiary education. Due to the limited resources and free education system those who arc eligible for entering in to universities arc prioriti/ed based on their Z-Score and district.. Therefore there is a tendency to select student with higher Z-Score from each district. Study was design to evaluate the relationship between, selection criteria and academic performances of B Com students in the University of Kelaniya. I have applied inductive method for the study. as well as used secondary data. Population is the B Com students in the University of Kclaniya and sample size was 350. For the analysis, I have compared ZScore and Gender with GPA of the students and also compared average GPA with average Z-Scorc. Findings of the study show that there is no significant relationship between Z-Score and GP A. Students, who got the higher Z-Score in A/L. didn't get the higher GPA in university (r2= 0.1411 ). And also there is no any relationship between gender and GPA as well as both male and female students performed equally (r2'= 0.505). Relationship between average G P A and average Z-Score in all district, is poor and positive. r2= 0.233 7) .. This shows that students from rural areas arc also performing equally with students ii"om urban districts. en_US
