Item A comparative study of the main education centers of Mahayana Buddhism in Sri Lanka and India: Abhayagiriya in Sri Lanka and Nalanda university in India(2012) Ranasinghe, R.H.I.S.Abhayagiri and Nalanda universities were flourished with thousand of students as international Buddhism universities during the 5th-12th centuries. This article reveals the importance and current state of user education programmes organized by the libraries.Item The importance of Malayatana as education centers in Sri Lanka: until the 13th century A.D.(University of Kelaniya, 2007) Ranasinghe, R.H.I.S.Mulayatana were originated and developed as higher Buddhist education centers. There were eight Mulayatanas belonged to Mahavihara, Abhayagiri and Jethawana Buddhist sects. These Mulayatana were centers of learning, holding the positions of universities for higher studies.
