Item Determinants of Cyberbullying: A Study of Management Undergraduates of State Universities in Sri Lanka(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2022) Galagamaarachchi, G. A. A. N.; Janadari, M. P. N.The purpose of this study is to determine the factors affecting cyberbullying behaviours among state university management undergraduates in Sri Lanka. In this research study, cyberbullying is the dependent variable, social media use is the independent variable and cyberstalking is the mediating variable. The research was a cross-sectional study and a quantitative study. As the sampling method, simple random sampling was used for selecting the sample. The primary data was collected using a standard measurement scale that was created using the five-point Likert scale. The target population was 2500 Management undergraduates of state universities in Sri Lanka. Morgan table was used to calculate the sample size. Accordingly, the sample size was 378. Additionally, the target population's primary data was gathered using the online questionnaire. With the use of SPSS encoding validity, reliability, descriptive statistics, regression, and correlation of the obtained data were analyzed. It was found that cyberstalking has a significant mediating impact on cyberbullying. Furthermore, findings indicate that social media use and cyberstalking have impact on cyberbullying behaviours and social media use and cyberstalking are determinants of cyberbullying behaviours among undergraduates.Item Determinants of Employee Commitment of Generation Y Employees in the Apparel Sector in Western Province(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2022) Ganhewa, G. S. M.; Janadari, M. P. N.The purpose of this research is to identify the determinants of employee commitment of Generation Y employees in Apparel sector of Western province, Sri Lanka. Organizational justice, job satisfaction, personal characteristics (gender, educational level) and work-life balance has evaluated as independent variables with the dependent variable organizational commitment. Data was collected from 380 employees working in Mas, Brandix and Hirdramani plants in Western province through a questionnaire. A Google form was created and distributed to collect data. Statistical package for social science (SPSS), was used as for data analysis and correlation and regression used to analyzed data. The findings revealed that organizational justice, job satisfaction and work-life balance have a significant impact on organizational commitment. Furthermore, this study proves that there are significant differences between gender, and education level on organizational commitment. Job commitment of male employees in the apparel sector seem to be higher than the female e employees according to the results of independent sample T- test.Item Emotional Readiness on Virtual Learning(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2022) Gomes, D. N. T.; Janadari, M. P. N.There is limited research on emotional readiness on virtual learning in world context. There is almost no research on emotional readiness on virtual learning in the Sri Lankan context. Thus, this study intends to contribute to filling the literature gap by looking into the relationship between emotional readiness and virtual learning. Also, the current research seeks to address fill to the emotional readiness on virtual learning of middle level employees. The researcher identified five dimensions of emotional readiness as computer/internet self-efficacy, self-directed learning, learner control, motivation for learning and online communication self-efficacy. Here the researcher predicted emotional readiness with virtual learning. The main purpose of this study is to study the effect of emotional readiness on virtual learning. This was conducted as a cross-sectional, quantitative study and was conducted among a sample of 97 middle level employees {Executive and Senior Executive} in apparel companies located in the Colombo district of Sri Lanka. Preliminary data were collected through a standard questionnaire that met acceptable validity and reliability. Using SPSS, the gathered data were examined (version 25). Detailed statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and simple return were used to analyze the data. The present study finds that emotional readiness has the strongest impact on virtual learning among middle level employees of the apparel sector. Analyzed results show a positive impact of computer/internet self-efficacy, self-directed learning, learner control, motivation for learning and online communication self-efficacy on virtual learning among middle level employees. This study raises the apparel companies to look at employee emotional readiness on virtual learning in a more serious and holistic approach. The finding of the study, it is evident that emotional readiness improves the success of virtual learning among middle level employees of the apparel sector in Sri Lanka.Item Empirical Investigation of Knowledge Management on Organizational Performance: Evidence from Financial Industry of Sri Lanka(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2020) Janadari, M. N.Even though the world of work has been energized by the growing aspects of the arena of the information technology, yet it is believed to be the focus and the emphasis of the knowledge factors has increasingly proven its swelling importance to every individual, organization, and to every nation. Believing this, the current organizations strive to put a valuable emphasis on the knowledge resources as a means of nurturing their individuals’ performance with the view of enhancing the overall organizational performance. The present study aims to explore how the knowledge management drives on the organizational performance especially with special reference to the financial institutions in Sri Lanka. Researcher adapted epistemological philosophy with deductive and explanatory approach and conducted to find the impact between Knowledge Management and organization performance by using survey strategy. This research was quantitative in nature which was data collected through the questionnaires from the management of top 12 financial companies in the finance industry by using stratified sampling method and analyzed using correlational and regression analysis techniques. The findings revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between knowledge management and the organizational performance of the organizations in finance industry in Sri Lanka. Thus, the study would provide a valuable insight for every organization especially the organizations in the financial industry to re-think about the effective ways that can ensure the knowledge management in their organization.Item Entrepreneurial Intention of University Undergraduates(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Madusankha, M. N.Entrepreneurship play major role of long-term economic growth of a Nation and it is leading factor in achieving economic growth, high employment, strong Job creation and positive social development. Small and Medium Enterprises are the basic foundation for entrepreneurs to set up their ventures for many reasons. But, the recent statistics showed that the failure rate of SMEs is very high. As a result, a less number of successful entrepreneurs can be seen. Therefore, in the present days government wants to promote entrepreneurship among individuals. The main objective of this study is to identify entrepreneurial intention of university undergraduates of Sri Lanka. The study involves three factors that come under the Theory of Planned Behavior. Those are attitude towards behavior, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control, which affect the entrepreneurial intention of individuals. A total of 217 students from the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya were participated in this study by responding to a standard questionnaire. The data was analyzed using SPSS, employing the correlation, regression and ANOVA tests. The results of Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression analysis showed that attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control have a positive relationship with entrepreneurial intention. And also according to regression analysis the attitudes towards behavior and perceived behavioral control have a 72.0% of impact to the entrepreneur intention. N.The purpose of this research is to identify the factors affecting on intention to migrate of executive level employees in manufacturing industry, with a specific emphasis on the moderating influence of gender. The primary focus is on understanding how gender interacts with organizational factors to influence employees' migration intentions. Career growth opportunities, compensation & benefits and workload serve as pivotal organizational determinants that may affect an individual's decision to migrate. A comprehensive literature review forms the foundation of the research, integrating theories and empirical findings from organizational behavior, migration studies, and gender context. This research is deductive (theory–testing) research. This research was conducted using a survey research strategy and quantitative research method. Executive level employees in manufacturing industry in Colombo district were chosen as the population of the study. The sample size was 292, data collection was done through a self-administered questionnaire and Convenience sampling technique. A Google form was created and distributed to collect data. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 23.0 was used as a tool for data analysis and both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression were used to analyze data. K. A. S. S.; Janadari, M. P. N.In recent years employer branding has gained more attention among business personnel. The apparel industry in Sri Lanka has played major role into the competitive environment though representing the highest proportion in to the service sectors’ organization. Employer branding was played the legitimate value into that competitiveness of the trend of the modern world. The researcher has considered as the main purpose of this study was to examine the impact of employer branding on organizational commitment. By considering the dimensions of economic value, social value, and development value that cogitate the impact on organizational commitment. The final sample of the study consisted of 107 staff and executive level employees who are currently working in the Star Garments (PVT) Ltd, Katunayake. A standardized and pre-validated questionnaire was distributed among the study sample in order to collect data. The study conducted the simple regression and t-test analysis to assess the impact of employer branding on organizational commitment as well as the impact of economic value, social value and development value with considering organizational commitment. Further, the researcher was examined, with the demographic factor, that the result of gender of the respondents’ was controlled to assess the impact of the gender on the association of employer branding on organizational commitment. Findings revealed that there is a positive and moderate impact of employer branding on organizational commitment. As well as the economic value, social value and the development value were positive and moderate impact of employer branding on organizational commitment in respectively. Further, the study results revealed that gender does not significantly control the impact of employer branding on organizational commitment.Item Impact of Green Human Resource Practices on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour Towards the Environment(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2022) Gunasekaran, W. N.Researchers and environmental policymakers from throughout the world express that human behaviour is at the basis of environmental problems like resource shortages, rising pollution, global warming, and biodiversity loss. However, some researchers proving that organizational citizenship behaviour can make a positive influence of environmental sustainability. In modern world many of organizations try to align HR practices with environmental sustainability. These practices called Green HRM practices. This study observing the impact of green human resource practices on organizational citizenship behaviour towards the environment in Sri Lankan context. As a response, the authors develop research questions to assess the relationship between Green HRM practices (Training & Development, Performance Appraisal, Compensation & Benefits) and OCBE in the manufacturing sector. This study was adopted a quantitative research approach and thus, a self-administrated survey questionnaire was applied to a sample of 103 all staff employees who are currently working in the manufacturing sector in Kalutara district. The sample was selected using the simple random sampling technique. To test the hypothesized relationships between the constructs, the regression analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 version. Three hypotheses were constructed for this purpose, and all hypotheses were failed to reject based on the correlation analysis and thus study's findings confirmed that Green Human Resource Practices has a positive impact on OCBE. The model of this study can be used for future researchers by adding new dimensions to examine this study's results and to highlight and study Green HRM practices for organizational citizenship behaviour. Furthermore, this study provides insight to0 policy makers, to ensure to make a healthy environment specially affected by the manufacturing sector within the country.Item Impact of Knowledge Management Processes on Workforce Agility in Public Banking Sector of Uva Province(Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka, 2022) Ganegoda, G. H. V. D.; Janadari, M. P. N.The Knowledge asset was highlighted as the key strategic weapon in post-industrial societies to achieve the competitive edge. Sri Lanka is gradually moving toward a post-industrial society context, which will increase the domain value centered on knowledge management and knowledge worker’s agility. Nonetheless, this study serves as a prelude to investigating the impact of knowledge management practices on workforce agility in the Sri Lankan banking sector. Workforce agility has received much interest in the manufacturing industry, but it's been overlooked in the service industry. This study was adopted a quantitative research approach and thus, a self-administrated survey questionnaire was applied to a sample of 280 Public Banking employees who are currently working in the industry. The sample was selected using the Simple random sampling technique. To test the hypothesized relationships between the constructs, the regression analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 version. Five hypotheses were constructed for this purpose, and all hypotheses were failed to reject based on the correlation analysis and thus study's findings confirmed that Knowledge management has a positive impact on workforce agility. The activation of Knowledge Management, in order to be capable of detecting changes in business environments that contain rival behaviour changes Companies' workforce agility will be increased when they have established Knowledge Management methods that lead to the creation of new knowledge.Item Impact of Organizational Justice on Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Study of Operational Level Employees in ABC Company(Department of of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2021) Abeyrathne, E. V. W. O.; Janadari, M. P. N.The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of Organizational Citizenship Behavior on Organizational Justice in the workplace. In addition to that, this study intends to contribute to fill the knowledge gap by looking into the relation between Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Justice. Although the between Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Justice established in western literature, very few studies have examined these with employee Organizational Citizenship Behavior in the Sri Lankan context, especially in the manufacturing industry and in executive and managerial positions. This study explored the relationship and examined the influence of those variables among operational level employees who work in a manufacturing Company in Sri Lanka. This research is a deductive (theory –testing) research. This research was conducted using survey research strategy and quantitative research method. Operational level employees of ABC Company were chosen as the population of the study. Simple sampling technique was used calculate the sample size. Accordingly, sample size was 214 observations and used primary data as data source, data collection was done through a self-administered questionnaire. A Google form was created and distributed to collect data. The number of employees who responded was 204 among 214 employees. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 23.0 was used as tool for data analysis and both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression were used to analyzed data. The results indicate that organizational Justice has significant direct effects on Organizational Citizenship Behavior.Item The Impact of Perceived Organizational Support on Organizational Citizenship Behavior: The Mediating Effect of Employee Engagement(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Lankathilalaka, D. N.Nowadays employees are not only concern about the pay which they receive for their work, but also about how organization values their contribution and care about their well-being. Thus, employees expect from employers, to accommodate them with long-term, perceived organizational support at work. Therefore, employers focused on maintaining a sustainable workforce by promoting perceived organizational support which ultimately leads to build high levels of organizational citizenship behavior. The main purpose of this study is to identify the impact of perceived organizational support on organizational citizenship behavior by considering the mediating effect of employee engagement in staff and officer grade employees at People’s Bank in Colombo Region. Data were collected from 140 staff and officer grade employees through a survey questionnaire. The study sample was selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data analysis was performed by using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicated that there is a positive moderate relationship between perceived organizational support and organizational citizenship behavior with the mediation effect of employee engagement. N.This study sought to find out how the Protean career personality affected on Entrepreneurial intentions with the mediate impact of Career orientation of Management undergraduates of State universities in Sri Lanka. In addition to that, this study had contributed to highlight the contextual gap of Protean career personality and the contribution as a predictor for Entrepreneurial intentions. This study had explored with quantitative research method as deductive research. This study had examined through 380 Management Undergraduates of State universities in Sri Lanka as the sample by using the simple random technique. A questionnaire was administered among the Management undergraduate of State Universities in Sri Lanka to measure their Protean career personality and Entrepreneurial intentions using a Google form. The collected data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and regression analysis to test the hypothesized relationships of the variables through SPSS 23.0. According to the study's findings, protean career personality, career orientation and Entrepreneurial intentions were significantly and positively correlated with each other variables by accepting the hypothesis. As well, Career orientation had a significant mediate impact for this study. Results also showed a moderate positive correlation between Protean career personality and Entrepreneurial intentions. The model of this study can be used for future researchers by adding new dimensions to examine this study's results and to highlight and study the Protean career personality being a predictor for Entrepreneurial intentions.Item The Impact of Social Media Usage in Work Life on Work-Life Balance of Employees: A Study at Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Limited(5th HRM Student Research Symposium 2018, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Liyanage, R. N.After emergence of the smart phone technology, social media usage has been raised rapidly with the development of social network sites and new technologies around the world. On the other hand, by keeping a border between work life and personal life, people who are employed, are trying to enhance better work life balance which does not consist with much conflicts. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of social media usage in professional life on work life balance. Researcher use primary data to analyze the relationship. The study was a cross sectional study and analysis was done at individual level. Correlation analysis and simple regression were analyzed in this study to identify the relationship and impact between independent variable and dependent variable. A survey was conducted for 58 employees at staff level and above members at Camso Loadstar (Pvt) Ltd Company. Results of the study has identified that, there is a moderate positive relationship between social media use in professional life and work life balance. Moreover, results indicate that there is an impact of social media use in professional life on work life balance. A. H.; Janadari, M. P. N.Organizations can gain a powerful competitive advantage by tapping into their talent and learning how to effectively organize and lead it. The purpose of this research is to identify the respondents' perceptions about the talent management in its various dimensions prevailing in IT Industry and its impact on the level of competitive advantage. As mentioned in the research problem, finding the right talent at right time that companies need to maintain a competitive advantage over other companies is very difficult and challenging. This research is deductive research and was conducted using survey research strategy and quantitative research approach thus, a questionnaire was used to gather research data and was generated using the five-component Likert scale. The sample size of this study is determined using the Morgan table and 375 is taken as the sample size of this study and 297 responses were received and transferred to analysis. Simple random sampling is used as the sampling technique for this study. It was also verified for its validity and reliability before distributing it randomly, and the data was analyzed using SPSS version 26, both descriptive and inferential statistics, namely correlation and regression were used to analyzed data. As per the findings, talent management has a significant impact on competitive advantage. In the conclusion, research has come to a point where, the most crucial work is to discover talents, employ talents, develop talents, and retain the unique talent because of its positive impact in making the company a competitive edge among rivals. The results indicate that talent management has significant impact on competitive advantage. This study will be more important for the managers who work for IT firms in Sri Lanka. They will be able to develop appropriate business strategies for their organizations to achieve competitive advantage and make appropriate decisions based on the findings. The study will shed light on the importance of talent management in the information technology industry and it will be useful to those mandated with handling talent in other technology companies and subsequently reducing turnover rates.Item Measurement of Organizational Citizenship Behaviour; Reliability and Validity in Sri Lankan Context(Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Janadari, M. P. N.; Sri Ramalu, S.; Wei, C. C.This paper investigates the goodness of the measure of organizational citizenship behaviour in terms of reliability and validity. Organizational Citizenship Behaviour considers as the extra role or voluntary behaviour not directly or explicitly recognized by the formal reward system, and that in the aggregate it promotes the effective functioning of the organization. However, more research studies on OCB focus on western context while similar effort in Sri Lankan context rather scant. Data were gathered through the survey by distributing structured questionnaire from public sector organizations. As per the discussion basically, two main criteria called reliability and validity have to be achieved to confirm the goodness of the measure. Internal reliability and composite reliability scales were commonly employed to asses construct reliability of the intended constructs. However, convergent validity achieved through Average Variance Extracted (AVE) and factor loadings. Discriminant validity can be evaluated by assessing the cross loadings among constructs, Fornel-Larcker criterion, and Heterotrait- Monotrait Ratio of correlation (HTMT). According to the derived outcomes implications regarding the goodness of measure were discussed and revisions of measurement in Sri Lankan context were presented.
