Impact of Working Culture of Job Satisfaction: A Study Based on Public Librarians in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Job satisfaction has become an important topic of discussion around the world for many years. The factors that contribute to job satisfaction have varied greatly among researchers. The Job satisfaction of library professionals is a key factor for delivery of quality service and it ensures the user satisfaction. In the modern era, public libraries as knowledge centers are facing several challenges due to the rapid changes of the society. In order to face for these challenges, satisfaction of its employees is foremost. The main purpose of this paper is to present the result of the impact of working environment on public librarians' job satisfaction. The present study typically considered facets were physical working condition, human relationships, professional development, and personalneeds. The study employed a quantitative methodology. Data was collected through a self-administered survey questionnaire. The target population consists of public librarians in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Simple random sampling is used for collecting data from 25 librarians. The result indicated that a positive relationship between working environment and public librarians’ job satisfaction in Colombo District in Sri Lanka. Originality-There has been no study done on public librarians’ job satisfaction in Sri Lanka.
Institutional Library Websites Affiliated to National Universities in Sri Lanka: a Content Analysis

The main objectives of this study are to evaluate the content of websites in institutional libraries affiliated to national universities in Sri Lanka and identify the shortcomings of library websites. A total of nine libraries were selected for the study but three institutions were rejected due to non-availability of separate library websites. Observation was the primary data collection method and a checklist was designed to collect data. The study mainly corresponds to four categories; Library Management, Library Services, Resources and Other information. Five items were included under the segment of library management. All of the selected libraries were provided the introduction to their libraries opening hours, staff information and contact information. Eight items were considered with regard to library services. Three institutes totally neglected to include their library services to their sites. Four items were located under the segment of library resources and PGIM have completed all four items in check-list. Results of the study showed that out of twenty items, none of the libraries hit all the items in the check-list. The findings of this study revealed that the institutional library websites affiliated to universities in Sri Lanka have not setup at satisfactory level
Praise or Perish: Scholarly Influence of Buddhist Commemorative Publications

Festschrift and felicitation are comparable usage for commemorative publication. Commemorative publication is compiled with respect of recalling someone or show respect to someone. Especially in the field of academia, commemorative publications are abundantly published to offer the respect for eminent personalities who substantiallycontributed for their field of study and society. Publication of commemoration works in the field of Buddhist Studies has rapidly increased last few years in Sri Lanka. Library of Postgraduate Institute of Pali& Buddhist Studies acquired a large number of publications and consequently implemented a separate collection for effective use of them. The main purpose of this paper is to identify the scholarly influence of the articles included inthecommutation works in the field of Buddhist Studies. In total 70volumes compiled as commemoration works were examined which were kept in the library of Postgraduate Institute of Pali& Buddhist Studies, (PGIPBS) University of Kelaniya. Two hypothesis were formulated to generalization the research problem. The findings of this study were substantiated the hypothesis 1 as ‘the included articles incommemoration works are scholastic.’ This study confirms the requirement of compiling an index for the collection of commemoration volumes available in PGIPBS. This assessment will enable the librarians to plan better collection development and implement better information service for their users. Further, practical implications can be utilized to upgrade the scholarly influence of the articles too. There has been no such study done on commemoration works in the field of Buddhist Studies in Sri Lanka.
