Abstract
Background: Parental divorce is a significant life event that profoundly affects children's mental health and personality development. The breakdown of family structures often leads to emotional distress, behavioral problems, and long-term psychological challenges for children. Research has consistently shown that children from divorced families are at a higher risk of developing mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues. Stressors associated with parental separation, such as inter-parental conflict and economic instability, exacerbate these risks. The aim of this study is to investigate the psychological impact of parental divorce on children's mental health and personality development.
Method: A mixed-method approach is employed, integrating quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods. A survey will be administered to a sample of children from divorced and intact families to assess mental health outcomes and personality traits. In-depth interviews with children and their parents will provide qualitative insights into their experiences and perceptions of parental divorce.
Results: The results show that children from divorced families exhibit higher levels of anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems compared to those from intact families. The psychological impact of parental divorce on children's mental health and personality development qualitative findings highlight the importance of parental conflict management and supportive family environments in mitigating these effects. This study emphasizes the significant psychological impact of parental divorce on children's mental health and personality development.
Conclusion: These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions that address inter-parental conflict and support children through the divorce process. By promoting healthy family dynamics and providing emotional support, it is possible to help mitigate the long-term psychological effects of parental divorce on children. This abstract provides a comprehensive overview of the study, highlighting the psychological impact of parental divorce on children and the importance of addressing these challenges through supportive interventions.
