Abstract

The digital transformation of Supply Chain Management (SCM) through emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and big data analytics offers immense potential for improving efficiency and value delivery. However, integrating these technologies presents significant challenges that complicate the development of effective digital strategies. While existing studies highlight the role of emerging technologies in SCM, they often lack a detailed synthesis of the specific obstacles and actionable approaches needed for successful strategy development. This systematic literature review aims to identify these challenges and consolidate best practices for developing effective digital strategies in SCM. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework, this review analyzes 31 studies published since 2020. Challenges are grouped into four key areas: technological, organizational, market-related, and security. To address these challenges, the study identifies best practices and five strategic frameworks for digital strategy formulation. Practitioners can utilize these insights as a structured methodology to tackle integration challenges and improve digital strategy development in SCM. The study also highlights gaps in the literature and suggests directions for future research.
