dc.description.abstractThe aim of this article is to review the facts which helped beginning and development of library tradition in Sri Lanka. Writing and depositing of the Buddhist scriptures (Tripitaka and its commentaries), writing series of commentaries on the Pali texts of the Buddhist scriptures and a number of compositions by foreign Buddhist scholars, writers and royal patronage are discussed in the article.en_US
