Sri Lanka has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. This is an attempt to identify factors which may predispose to parasuicide and influence its management. Analyses hospital admissions related to parasuicide between Jan 1993 - Dec. 1997. Examines association between parasuicide and serum cholesterol levels, sociological factors and parasuicides, mental disorders and parasuicide and attitudes of hospital personnel towards parasuicides. Data tables are provided.
