Abstract

Background: The experiences a person has in childhood play a critical role in their future social behavior, emotions, resilience, and the way they interact with society. This study theoretically explains the early traumatic experiences of the main character in the movie Monkey Man (2024) and how they affect his adult actions, his ability to face social processes, and integrate into society. Method: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of childhood trauma and adversity on a person's socialization process, using the movie Monkey Man as a case study. By analyzing the main character's behavior, relationships, and social interactions, the study examined how early experiences shape a person's trust, emotional regulation, and ability to function within a community. The study reveals how trauma leads to social alienation, aggression, and resilience. The research methodology includes a qualitative approach to the Monkey Man movie. Attention was focused on key scenes showing the main character's early experiences and their impact on his later life. Thematic analysis was used to examine patterns in his social behavior, relationships, and emotional responses. Primary data was collected by conducting content analysis. Also, movie reviews were used as secondary sources. Results: The analysis reveals how the main character's childhood difficulties, loss, violence, and neglect significantly affect his adult socialization. The character shows signs of emotional detachment, distrust of individuals, isolation, and a tendency to be aggressive. However, certain experiences develop resilience, and the character finally challenges the social structures that oppressed him. The study found how negative childhood experiences can hinder social integration, but also act as a catalyst for personal growth and transformation. The strong establishment of a child's early experiences in the mind works to fulfill those unfulfilled goals somehow. Conclusion: Adverse experiences and mistrust lead to difficulties in building good relationships. However, external factors such as mentorship, self-awareness, and personal determination help mitigate these effects. The film is presented as a powerful representation of how early life experiences shape a person's social journey, emphasizing the importance of support systems and self-discovery in overcoming childhood difficulties.
