    The Impact of Training and Development on Employee Performance at Semi-Government Sector Organizations in Sri Lanka

    This study attempts to identify the impact of training and development on employee performance of executive level employees at two semi-government organizations in Sri Lanka. Further, it examines the relationship between training and development and employee performance, the level of performance and measure the differences of employee performance based on age and gender differences. This study was a quantitative and cross sectional survey where data was collected through a structured questionnaire. Convenience sampling technique was applied to select the sample and the sample consisted of 99 executive level employees. The data were analyzed using the computer based statistical data analysis package, SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) and Correlation and Regression analysis were used as analytical tools. Finding revealed that there is positive impact of training and development on employee performance of executive level employees. Accordingly, the researcher suggests to establish proper training and development programs to ensure higher level performance from employees

    Impact of Employees’ Emotional Resilience on Employees’ Work Performance: A Study of Executive and Above Level Employees in Private Sector

    When operating in a complex work environment, it’s obvious that the companies will have to face for many challenges. Here, if the company need to survive, the company should adapt according to that. It is mandatory to have more resilient people within the company in order to face such changes successfully. And the sudden changes and the sudden workplace conflicts and the situations will create stressful work environment for the employees who are working in a company. The sole purpose of this study is to identify the impact of the ability of individuals to quickly bounce back from stressful situations and how does it affect to the work performance. Questionnaire was distributes among the selected sample and the sample encompasses 70 respondents. Once the analysis was done, the results depicted that there is a 24.4% of impact is there from resilience on employee performance. The findings of this research will be beneficial for the companies to hire most resilient individuals for the successful future who can adopt and who can quickly bounce back

    Relationship between Occupational Health & Safety Practices and Operational Level Employees’ Performance: A Case of Kelani Cables PLC

    This research was designed to analyze the relationship between the occupational health and safety practices and the operational level employee performance of Kelani Cables PLC. In observation of the present situation researcher identified that this organization is keeping a sound health and safety practices and employees are compliance to the rules and regulations. Therefore this research was developed to analyze the relationship between the occupational health and safety practices and the operational level employee performance. Safety training, safety information and inspection with accident investigation are taken as independent variable. The main objective of the study is to investigate the relationship between occupational health and safety practice and operational level employees’ performance. Based on the empirical findings from the previous literature the concepts are proven. As this research is a quantitative approach based research the population and sample were selected from the relevant organization and data was collected by distributing questionnaire. The sample, development of the questionnaire using five point Likert scale method, conceptualization and the operationalization of variables are shown therein. Researcher concluded through the study and analysis that there is a positive relationship between the occupational health and safety practices and operational level employees’ performance in Kelani Cables PLC. Finally researcher discussed the findings with previous literature, provided recommendations and areas for further researches.

    Impact of Workplace Bullying on Employee Performance: Study of Operational Level Employees in Polytex Garments Limited

    Negative acts concerning work related and person related are called as workplace bullying. It is common in most organizations today especially with the presence of a diverse workforce in many organizations. Workplace bullying is a problem and is an important organizational and social concern. Bullying seems to have a number of negative individual consequences in the form of stress and poor mental health. This study examined the impact of workplace bullying on employee performance. And also it determines a comprehensive definition of workplace bullying and explores its job-related consequences. In the present study questionnaire was used in order to investigate experience of workplace. Data was collected from 100 operational level employees in Polytex Garments Limited, Yakkala to complete the objectives of the study. The data, analyzed by SPSS 20 revealed that there is a negative relationship between workplace bullying and employee performance. The responsiveness of employee performance towards workplace bullying is 52%. Expectedly, the study found that most dominant variable which affect to employee performance is work related bullying. Researcher recommends that employees who experience bullying at work should be given adequate support and conductive work environment in order to reduce the negative consequences of bullying on employee well-being and performance.

    Impact of Rewards Satisfaction on Employee Performance: A Study of Ceylon Pencil Company (Pvt) Limited

    Human resource is most valuable asset in order to achieve competitive advantage and therefore it is very important to investigate the performance and related factors deeply. Mainly two types of the factors will impact to the performance of the organization and such as extrinsic rewards satisfaction and intrinsic rewards satisfaction. Hence, the main focus of this study is to identify what is the highly influencing factor for employee’s performance among extrinsic rewards satisfaction and intrinsic rewards satisfaction. As well as this study will examine the relationship between extrinsic rewards satisfaction and intrinsic rewards satisfaction and employee performance in Ceylon Pencil Company (Pvt) Limited. The study was conducted among the sample of 60 operational level employees who are working in Ceylon Pencil Company (Pvt) Limited at Peliyagoda. The response rate was 100%. Respondents were asked to indicate their preference on five point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) with the aid of statistical techniques such as mean, correlation and regression analysis. Findings revealed that there is a positive relationship between rewards satisfaction and employee performance. Intrinsic rewards satisfaction was found to be the most influential. Hence, ways and means to improve employees' intrinsic satisfaction are recommended to HR practitioners and policy makers.

    Flexible Work Schedules and Employee Performance: Case Study of Executives in Asian Alliance Insurance PLC

    The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between flexible work schedules and employee performance of Asian Alliance Insurance PLC. Having observed the current situation, researcher identified that this organization has sound flexible work arrangement system and employees choose most suitable work schedule. Executives in the aforementioned organization was the population of the study. Study sample size is forty three (43), and convenience sampling technique was used to select the sample. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Correlation and regression were used to test the advanced hypotheses. It is found that there is a positive relationship between flexible work schedule and performance of the executives in the tested domain. Executives in Asian Alliance Insurance most of prefer work with flexible work schedule. In the flexible work schedule system most of the insurance companies are still practicing this on the marketing and sales side employees. But the scenario of the management level employees most of the insurance industry managers enjoy this facility. So if the company can make the target and appoint task and duties to the workers rather than more flexible approach it makes more motivated executive level employees. Findings revealed that executive’s performance in Asian Alliance Insurance positively link with flexible work schedule in the company established.

    Impact of Training on Employee Job Performance: An Empirical Study of Korean Spa Accessories (Pvt) Limited

    The purpose of this study is to find out the impact of employee training on employee performance. Employees are the most important asset in any business. The accomplishments of a firm depend on its employee performance. So, top managements have realized the importance of investing in training for the need of improving employee performance. That importance in training on employee performance, created an interest within the researcher to test this previous understanding in the selected research context. As such the study goes on to analyze and understand the theoretical frame work and models related to employee on job training, and its effect on employee performance. The research approach adopted for the study is the quantitative approach. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between employee training and employee performance. The research context of this study is Korean SPA Company which includes 100 operational level employees and data were collected from all the 100 respondents and their supervisors through self-administered anonymous questionnaires. Regression analysis was used in “SPSS” version 20 for data analysis. Results show a positive relationship between training and employee performance

    Impact of Training Effectiveness on Employee Performance of Management Assistant Level Employees in National Housing Development Authority

    Most of the organizations spend a lot of money on Training process of their employees, as training employees has a directly effect on organizational success. Training process help individual employees to perform their current job in a better way and to meet the expectation of a higher and more challenging job in the future. It also helps to improve the performance of the employees and there by boosts the productivity of the organization. This study focuses on identifying the impact of Training Effectiveness on Employee Performances in National Housing Development Authority (NHDA). To achieve the above mentioned task and to collect data, the employees of the NHDA head office, Colombo 02 who were randomly selected were used as a sample. To gather information, a questionnaire was used as a primary data collection method and company reports were used as secondary data collection method. Moreover, the past training records and previous research papers related to Training programs were used to collect data. According to the results obtained through the analysis of data, it was revealed that training effectiveness help to improve employee performances and there is an impact of the training effectiveness on the employee performance. Finally, this study also presents some recommendations that can be adapted to improve the existing system of training process in NHDA.

    The Impact of ISO Standards Implementation on Employee Performance of Executive Level Employees in Colombo Dockyard PLC

    Today the customers of any business in the competitive world expect products and services meeting highest standards. The rapid rate of globalization has enabled this expectation to reach almost all parts of the world. Therefore, today organizations have to provide products and services at the world class level. This level can be reached through the adoption and implementation of world class strategies. International organization for standardization (ISO) certification is one of those strategies for organizations to reach the world class level. And also these standards lead employees for higher performance. Higher performance of employees also very critical for organizations to survive in the contemporary world. Thus, this study will examine the relationship between ISO standards implementation and employee performance of executive level employees on Colombo Dockyard PLC. To accomplishment of objectives quantitative research method and questionnaire will be used in order to collect primary data. Sample will be 40 employees represent from the population and it will focus only for the executive level employees and SPSS data analysis software will be used accordingly. The research results can be used as a guideline for the organization to have better understanding of ISO standards implementation and furthermore it will help to implement ISO standards effectively to increase employee performance in the organization. As well as results can be used for the other companies who are trying to implement ISO standards.

    The Impact of Employee Relations on Employee Performance: With Reference to Timex Garments (Pvt) Ltd

    This particular research has been conducted to identify the impact of employee relations on employee performance. This research is conducted with special reference to Timex garments (Pvt) Ltd which is one of the leading garment sector organizations. However, a research conducted to explore the relationship between impacts of employee relations on employee performance. The research is conducted in Timex garments (Pvt) Ltd where 120 employees are taken as population. The main purpose of this research study is to identify the impact of employee relations on employee performance. The researcher started the study by going through relevant literatures by many ways. The data was collected by employees in Timex garments (Pvt) Ltd. A questionnaire which included 21 questions. These information are used to gather information from 120 employees and all of them have responded. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16.0 was used to analyze the data. The final results show that there is a positive relationship between employee relations and employee performance. In addition to that there is a moderate positive impact of employee relations on employee performance. For the future success of the organization, it is necessary to have good employee relations in order to maintain good employee performance.
