Advertisement has a significant impact on the consumer at a subconscious level. The primary purpose of this study is to find the correspondence between the various advertisements appeals associated with the outcomes. And this study has examined the relationship between appeals and outcomes in a multi-dimensional space. Five appeals have been taken and the perception of these appeals has been ranked. Questionnaires were used to collect the data. The research design was descriptive in nature. The target population for the present research is focused on youth in the age group of 19-30 years and the number of respondents selected for conducting the study was 114. When correspondence analysis test was conducted, it was found that humor is highly associated with interest, desire is highly associated with rational and sensuality, humor is closer to attention, fear is closer to action, bandwagon is closer to action and desire which signifies that different advertisement appeals have different perpetual impact on consumer buying behaviour.Item Content and Readability Analysis of Mission Statements: A Study Based on Listed Companies in Colombo Stock Exchange-Sri Lanka(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) De Alwis, A.C.; Ramanadhan, H.N.Mission statement is the most important document of corporate communication and it should be developed with relevant required components and able to read and understand by the different stakeholders. Considering this premise, this research endeavor is aimed at evaluating the mission statements of public quoted companies in Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE). The entire population of the CSE is 298 companies, the sample selected through multi stage sampling method, and it was consisted 78 companies. The mission statements were retrieved from the respective websites, while the analysis was done under two stages. To test the richness of the statement, it was applied the model developed by Pearce and David (1987) and David (1989). To test the level of readability, the fog index was used. Analysis of statements for richness proved that the sample firms in our study generally did not include needed components in their mission statements. The most popular components the sample firms most often included was Product and service, Philosophy and public image. Secondly it was recorded a very poor readability index for mission statements of all the companies. This high score implies the need to review and rewrite the mission statements by reducing sentence length and the use of multiple-syllable words.Item Developing Effective Reading Skills in ESL through Blended Mode at Tertiary Level(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Ravindran, S.Education is human right. Yet due to various negative factors such as poverty, poor educational background at home, lack of trained English teachers, not attending ESL classes regularly, no motivation, war situation and other socio, political, and cultural aspects the learners fail to obtain the reading skill proficiency. The success of mastering all four language skills and grammar in the second language is very challenging. Reading skill was considered as a passive skill. It has been taught and learnt through traditional face to face mode. Even though various teaching methods and approaches were postulated from time to time, less emphasis has been given to developing reading skills. This research is to explore whether (traditional and computer assisted blended language learning) Blended Learning mode could be utilized to develop reading skills at the tertiary level. Fifty first year students from the Faculty of Arts were taken as sample for the study. Their performances in reading skills were tested before and after teaching reading skills through the Blended Learning mode. It was found that the participants' performance in reading skills improved. The research findings disclose the fact that the Blended Learning mode has a positive impact on the development in the participants' proficiency in the reading skills. The study has an implication of recommending Blended Learning mode of teaching and learning to improve effective reading skills at the tertiary levelItem Does the Factors of Spiritual Intelligence Distinguish the Levels of Employee Stress?(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Jisna, N.; Mohanty, M.In the present scenario, everyone is striving to achieve and make use of the opportunities and resources to its best. Stress has become a part of everyone’s life. In a corporate world, managers face day to day affairs where stress is inevitable and unavoidable. The purpose of this research work is to find out whether the factors of Spiritual Intelligence can distinguish the levels of employee stress and can help managing the level of stress of the employees. Two standardized questionnaires were used. The Spiritual Intelligence Self Report Inventory (SISRI- 24) developed by King (2008) was selected to measure the four factors of Spiritual Intelligence of employees. Secondly, The Occupational Stress Index developed by Srivastava and Singh in 1981 was used to measure the three levels of employee stress. The study was conducted among 300 employees to measure the level of Stress and Spiritual Intelligence of each individual. The data was analyzed using Wilk’s Lambda and the findings reveal that the factors of Spiritual Intelligence do not have the ability to distinguish the level of employee stress.Item Downfall of Sri Lankan Cricket: Local Fans’ Perspective(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Arjun De Silva; Weerasinghe, T.D.; Maldeniya, D.Even though the most popular and the most watched game during last few decades in Sri Lanka is cricket, it has been witnessed that the cricket fans are becoming less excited about the game of cricket during last years since Sri Lankan National men’s cricket team showed a losing momentum. Hence, bridging the gap in the context with empirical knowledge, the current study attempts to identify whether Sri Lanka Cricket actually has a downfall, and if so, what caused it, from the perspective of local cricket fans. Overall design of the study is qualitative. A trend analysis was performed using secondary data related to Test and ODIs match wins/draw/tie. A total of 74 Facebook comments were collected for the public question asked from July 14 at 11:54 PM to July 21 midnight. The qualitative data analysis; conventional content analysis was performed using the Atlas.ti application software. The comments carried 118 opinions out of which 2 said there is no downfall in Sri Lankan Cricket, and 116 said different opinions of the losing trend. The trend analysis provides that there is a downfall in Sri Lanka Test/ODI National men’s Cricket over last 8 years. According to the fans’ comments; poor management strategies, sport and politics, domestic cricket (school/club) issues, individual talent related issues, issues in selection of players, and sport commercialization are the main reasons whilst player replacement succession planning issues, issues related to the infrastructure distribution, and sport celebrity nature cause minor effect on the downfall of Cricket in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, it is suggested to formalize the selection procedure of players to the national team and establish a sound mechanism to regulate sport commercialization & eradicate undue political influences.Item Economic Value Added as a Performance Measurement Tool: A Study on Selected Banks in India(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Antony, A.; Subramanin, V.Banks has significant role in the economy as it constitutes an important aspects of Indian Financial System. But in recent year its profitability was adversely affected because of stressed assets. The assets stress has hampered credit growth of the economy. Five banks were selected to evaluate its performance both in terms of financial performance measures as well as value based measures. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the financial efficiency of the banks and also the contribution of the banks in value creation towards its shareholders. The period of the study was 2014-2018. The EVA and MVA were the two value based measures and the dependent variable of the study. The independent variables are Net Profit, Operating Profit, ROA, ROCE, PAT, CAR, EPS and EVA. From the two regression models, the stronger one was the Economic value Added as it was found that 67% of the variation of the dependent variable was due to the independent variables. It is observed that the MVA of all the four private sector banks has steadily improved over the years. The same cannot be said of SBI where the MVA has eroded significantly. The study help to identify whether the banks are properly utilizing the capital invested and creating value for its shareholders. However, study shows that Operating Profit and ROCE is highly correlated to the value performance measures of the banksItem An Empirical Investigation on the Impact of Port-Based Development Projects on the Fishermen Community(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Antony, O.P.; Helan, A.P.; Ramanathan, H.N.Port-based development projects like International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) Vallarpadam, Kochi, Kerala, India has created a pressure on the livelihood security of fishermen community in the locality. The study tries to find out the influences of the International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) Vallarpadam on the fishermen community. Using a stratified random sampling technique 187 samples were selected from the fishermen population of Goshree islands located in the Vembanad Lake. These islands include Vypin, Bolgatty, Vallarpadam and Thanthonni Thuruthu. A structured interview schedule was used for collecting data through personal interview method. The primary data was analyzed with the help of SPSS. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) technique was used to derive the results. The analysis reveals that the setting up of port-based development projects like International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) Vallarpadam resulted in the loss of fishing facilities for fishermen which affect their livelihoodItem Export Gap and Export Performance of Black Pepper in India under WTO Era(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Sivadas, R.K.The study area is mainly focused to explain production- export gap and export performance of Black Pepper in the WTO era. Black pepper, the ‘King of Spices’ is the most ancient and important spices exported from the ‘Home of Spices’ India. The implementation of WTO AoA on 1st January 1995 marked the beginning of a new era in agricultural trade policy. India opted for bound tariff rate of 108 per cent for black pepper but, the tariff rates of these crops significantly less than WTO bound rates and India reduced the levels of tariff rates unilaterally. By April 2001, India has removed all quantitative restrictions on imports and it again deteriorate already existing situation. In the WTO epoch, being a perennial crop black pepper faced year to year instability in export, export market of these crops could not attain any positive growth trend, and then also identified production- export gap became wide in these period. Thus, this study mainly focused to explain export gap constraints and its influence on export performance. Empirical studies using ANOVA model to observe the average growth trend of black pepper export in the pre, partial and post WTO epoch found that the trend of this crop is faced high level declining trend in the post WTO period. “Post- Hoc Range Test” and “Least Significance Difference (LSD)” methods were applied for identifying the multiple comparisons of different means. Then, “Mean- Plots” was used for graphically summarizing, the means of sub groups in this study. Factors constraining export of this crop in the WTO era from India were grouped under internal and external constraints. Empirical studies using Multiple Regression models identified that the export gap constraints harmfully influenced the export performance of black pepper exporters. In the WTO epoch, along with the normal cyclical challenges of this crop have been supplemented by other internal and external constraints and these constraints influenced export performance of exporters Thus, drawing from its findings, the study calls for more intense support and development is needed at proper time to the pepper exporters for efficient utilization of emerging market opportunities under WTO epoch and it requires enhancement of productivity, competitiveness and diversification/ value addition of these cropsItem Factors Affecting the Adoption and Use of Mobile Money in Africa(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Alhassan, A.; Li, L.,; Reddy, K.; Duppati, G.This research provides preliminary results on context based factors that determines the adoption and use of mobile money (MM) in Africa. Using data from several sources, including Research ICT Africa, International Telecommunication Union and the World Bank, the hypothesized research model tested the context based constructs such as the availability of electricity, enabling regulation and rural dwellings with the technology acceptance model (TAM) to determine how these constructs affect peoples’ intentions and attitudes towards the continuous adoption and use of MM. Exploring these constructs using the structural equation modelling (SEM) technique, the empirical results suggest that the perceived availability of electricity is an important factor for the mobile phone functionality to enable adoption and use of MM. Perceived enabling regulation also show a correlation with individuals’ intention to adopt and use MM. However, perceived rural dwelling is found to negatively correlate with individuals’ attitudes and intentions to adopt and use MM because of the inadequate or lack of mobile network and national grid in rural areas. The policy implication is that African governments’ public-private partnerships (PPPs) can assist with the construction of the relevant infrastructure for shared growthItem Factors Influencing Supply Chain Practices of Seafood Industries in India: An Empirical Examination(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Abdeen, J.; Ramanathan, H.N.Effective and efficient supply chain management practices now have become a very valuable and important way to remain competitive in market and to improve the organizational performance. The case of seafood exports from Kerala provides a manageable case study that throws light on the challenges faced by exporters in India as a whole. At the same time, it highlights the particular supply chain management practices followed by the Kerala seafood export sector. The population of interest was the registered seafood exporting companies in Kerala. The data collection instrument used was a questionnaire which was administered to a total sample of 350 managers. Sample selection was based on simple random sampling technique. The analyses involved statistical methods such as reliability and validity tests and Factor analysis. The study reveal the importance of Internal Integration, Strategic Supplier Partnership, Customer Relationship Management and Information Sharing. The results indicate that supplier involvement is a key coordinating process in supply chain design. Effective supply chain practice and effective information sharing are two sources of supply chain improvement. Organization has to understand and recognize supply chain management practice has profit enabler function in seafood industry. Three critical aspects of supply chain partnerships are: recognizing opportunities that would benefit from a partnership, selecting the right partners and meeting the requirements as a partner. To develop a responsive supply chain, continuous collaborative improvement among firms has become strategic imperative. This collaboration is occurring in many industries and has become the source of competitive advantage for some companiesItem Feasibility Study of Defense Research Projects: Identification and Analysis of Endogenous and Exogenous Parameters(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Kumar, K.A.; Kiran Govind, V.; Ramanathan, H.N.High technology research projects like defense and space technologies etc. are undertaken by Government of India departments like Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organization. The new project proposals are subjected to detailed review for its feasibility and completeness. This paper aims at identifying critical parameters based on Systems Engineering principles for evaluation of such new project proposals. A careful analysis of the parameters brings out the endogenous and exogenous characteristics which are important for successful completion of research and development projects. These parameters form the basis for deriving composite matrices which can be used for evaluation and feasibility of new research project proposalsItem Gauging the Predictor Importance of Deceptive Advertisement Impact: An Application of Ensemble Model Accuracy Boosting(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Francis, A.M.; Eldose, A.; Anjitha, G.; Athira, E.H.; Neethu, R.; Pooja Khosh, M.; Thamburu, S.An advertisement plays a vital role in the purchasing behavior of every customer. It also influences the consumption pattern of customers. The main purpose of this study is to find out the predictor importance of deceptive advertising .This research explores the impact of deceptive advertisement on students with reference to cosmetics products. For achieving the objective, 4 independent variable was selected and the impact of these variables was measured. The study was conducted by collecting questionnaire from 100 students from different colleges at Kerala. And descriptive research design was used in this study. With the help of an ensemble model, the accuracy of data has been boosted. The findings provided new insights on how deceptive advertisement influences the cosmetics industry. We found that there is a fairly significant impact of deceptive advertising by cosmetics products on the students. The result showed that the deceptive advertising has more impact on consumer buying behavior through deception (Hayder, 2017). There are some laws enforced by government but not in practice to ensure consumer right and protect them from any deception in India (Hayder, 2017). Advertisement which intentionally mislead the customers by misrepresentation of nature, quality, characteristics offered by various companies are Deceptive Advertisement. The study was intended to ascertain the extent to which the deception was involved in cosmetic related advertisements and its impact on customers and the response of them to the misleading price claims and exaggerated claimsItem Generation Gap in Store Selection Criteria of Gold Buyers: An Empirical Examination of Gold Buyers belonging to Liberalized and Non- Liberalized Era in India(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Pathy, G.S.; Ramanathan, H.N.Gold in India occupies a special space in the life of people. It possesses utilitarian, hedonic as well as symbolic qualities. This has ensured that India regularly accounts for almost 25% of the total gold imports in the world. The study is an attempt to identify the impact of cultural dynamics on gold store (Jewelry) selection behavior. The population was classified into pre and post-liberalization generation by dividing into those born before 1976 and after 1976. This was based on average marriage age for females. Though the legal age for marriage for females in India is 18, actual average marriage age for females in India is 20 to 22. The generation born in 1976 would turn 20 by 1996, meaning that the marriage of women belonging to this generation would have happened well after the fall outs of globalization would have started to impact the economy. In order to reduce the impact of external factors on the result samples were chosen from the same socio-economic background i.e. one sample belonging to each of the generations were selected from the same family. A snowballing sampling methodology was adopted. The data was collected using a structured questionnaire. The store selection variables considered under the study were broadly classified into internal and external. Internal includes statements as I buy gold from the same store, I have a list of stores that I trust I choose from among them based on the situation and I take a decision based on opinions of friends and family. The external factors considered were I take a decision based on the attractiveness of advertisements, I take a decision based on promotion and offers. The data was collected from a total of 105 families (210 respondents). The study brought out that cultural dynamics has an influence on store choice behavior. The study couldn’t find any difference between the different attributes contributing to store selection among the pre-liberalization generation. While among the post-liberalization generation though there are differences. The study concludes by stating that cultural dynamics have an impact on store choice behavior. It also opens up a research gap, as the influence of cultural dynamics on other processes of consumer behavior can be probed into as well.Item Impact of Board Composition on Risk Management: Evidence from Listed Companies in Sri Lanka(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Pathiraja, P.M.D.S.; Priyadarshanie, W.A.N.Board plays a vital role and the directions of the entity’s whole journey lies with the hands and brains of directors. This study focuses on investigating whether there is significant impact of board composition on risk management of an entity. Cluster sampling method was employed and 100 companies which are listed in Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) have been randomly selected so as to represent the all sectors in CSE. Data was collected from 2012 to 2017 by annual reports. Board size, Board Independence, Board Financial Literacy, CEO duality and Board meetings frequency were used as independent variables. Risk management was considered as dependent variable while capital structure and company size were considered as control variables. Risk management was measured by beta value. Regression analysis were employed to analyze data. Findings revealed that there is a significant impact of Board Financial Literacy and CEO Duality on beta. The findings will be vital in backing companies to picking heads into its boardItem Impact of Career Planning on Employee Turnover Intention in Short-Term: Evidence from a Leading Garment Factory in Sri Lanka(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Tennakoon, W.D.N. S.M.; Lasanthika, W.J.A.J.M.Employee turnover intention in short term (ETIST) is still a burning issue for many labor intensive industries despite the interest of scholars on it for many past decades. The impact of Career Planning (CP) on ETIST is loosely addressed. Thus, this study investigates the impact of CP on the ETIST. A deductive, cross sectional research inquiry was carried out where CP is operationalized using personal, occupational, organizational and external factors. ETIST denotes the turnover intention of short tenured employees. Survey instrument (Holland, 1997) of 30 items ranked the responses on a five-point Likert scale. Sample represents the randomly selected machine operators (n = 232) of garment factory where short-term LTO reported as significant. Regression and correlation analyses derive the results. It is concluded that career planning is significantly influencing employee turnover in short term. Implications of the study carries the importance of employing CP strategies to minimize the possible ETIST.Item Impact of Demographic and Organization Centered Factors on Perceived Over Qualification and Employee Wellbeing in Kerala Economy(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Rasheed, R.Kerala has achieved high human development indicators among all other States in India. On the other hand the State also ranks first in educated unemployment. The high proportion of educated unemployment resulted in an oversupply of arts and science and professionally qualified graduates without adequate job openings. As a result highly qualified employees are working in both private and public sector jobs requiring lesser level of education resulting in a phenomenon known as over qualification. These employees are found to accept less demanding jobs in order to prevent them from being unemployed. As such the objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of demographic and organizational variables on perceived over qualification and employee wellbeing of overqualified employees. For an adequate representation of data a sector had to be selected where both government and private organizations mutually co exists and a plenty of overqualified employees are working. Banking sector in India satisfies this criteria and hence the data had been collected from full time regular employees working in both public sector and new generation private banks in Kerala. The population of the study is “the employees working in the position of officers and clerks in banks”. Employees above 50 years of age were ignored and thus the data has been controlled for nature of jobs and age. The sample size is 561 and the study adopted stratified proportionate sampling in order to select the sample. Perceived over qualification is found to differ significantly among organization type, educational qualifications, age and experience in the current job. Employee wellbeing is found to significantly differ across organization type, educational qualifications, marital status and experience. The study is an eye opener towards the extent of problem of over qualification in Kerala. The study stresses the need for devising an effective manpower planning policy for our State to provide a supply of labor that matches the requirements of the IndustryItem The Impact of Emotional Intelligence of Teachers in Higher Education on Student Engagement: Evidence from National Universities in Sri Lanka(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Welmilla, I.; Krishanthy, S.Student Engagement has emerged as a central theme in a context of Higher Education in recent years. So there is a great consent towards it. Due to several factors undergraduates are diverted and disengaged consequently especially the state universities of Sri Lanka currently experiencing this issue. Even there are many factors impact on student engagement this study explored the significance of teachers with their emotional intelligence competencies for getting student engagement. University students are prefer to take student centered teaching where it is possible if only teachers are ready and capable to take account of students interest, needs and perspectives on adaptation with their teaching approach. Having understood the phenomenon above the current study designed to investigate the Impact of Emotional Intelligence of teachers in Higher Education on Student Engagement based on students’ perspective. This is an explanatory study data collected from the sample of 255 undergraduates selected from three state universities in western province of Sri Lanka on which convenience sampling method was adopted. Finding reveal that students are engaged but not actively and as per the students’ point of view lecturers are just good rather excellent enough on emotional intelligent competencies. However there is a positive strong relationship as well as have significant positive impact of emotionally intelligent teachers of higher education on student engagement. Ultimately it is concluded that higher educational teachers require and have to expand substantial amount of skill on emotional intelligence further then the active student engagement can be ensured, thus it is not a profession limited to only technical skillsItem The Impact of Job Demands and Job Resources on Work Family Conflict: A Conceptual Framework for Research(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Jayarathne, S.M.D.Y.Busy schedules in this contemporary world widen the boundaries between family life and work life, which created Work Family Conflict and has become a prevalent issue among individuals. Even though there are considerable amount of studies conducted on this area, there remain few empirical and theoretical findings on extending the Job Demands- Resource theory in to work family domain, especially in the Asian context. Further, this concept paper propose the mediation effect of emotional exhaustion on the relation between job demands and job resources on work family conflict and propose the moderation effect of job demands and job resources. A conceptual model is proposed at the end of the paper that enables the future researchers to test empirically in different environments. The significance of this paper is, it proposes the mediating effect of emotional exhaustion, which has not been examined to explain the relationship between job demands and job resources with work family conflict in the previous research studies while advising managers to find what factors make employees less exhausted and enjoy their work that reduce work family conflictItem The Impact of Knowledge Sharing Factors on Talent Retention: A Study of Private Sector Organizations in Sri Lanka(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Silva, H.M.S.V.; Sandeepani, S.H.M.In current environment, Modern knowledge based companies were taken knowledge as the weapon to gain competitive advantage from the market through high talented people. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge sharing factors on talent retention of executives and above employees working in the top five private sector companies in Sri Lanka. This study has identified that mutual trust in between superior and subordinate for knowledge sharing, rewards for knowledge sharing and training for knowledge sharing and managerial support from superior to subordinate for knowledge sharing as the most influential factors in knowledge sharing. This was a quantitative study used a deductive approach. This study was carried out as an individual-level study with a sample of 160 executive level employees. The population framework of executive and above level of five companies was available, thus, the simple random sampling was applied in selecting sample for this study. In addition, survey strategy was followed in the study and a self-administered, anonymous, pre-tested questionnaire was used for data collection purpose. Moreover, four hypotheses were constructed for four factors and they were tested using simple linear regression analysis. It was concluded that there is a positive significant impact of mutual trust between supervisor and subordinate for knowledge sharing, rewards for knowledge sharing and training for knowledge sharing on talent retention of executives and above employees. Findings concluded that there is a positive moderate impact of managerial support for knowledge sharing on talent retention of executives and above employees in private sector organizations in Sri Lanka. Finally, findings stimulates to review and revise their existing knowledge sharing practices to formulate their talent retention policies or to revise their existing talent retention policies in a way of increasing the best talent in organizations to ready for ‘war for best talent’ in 21st centuryItem Impact of Strategy Execution on Organizational Performance: A Review(9th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI-2018), Department of Management Studies and Toc H Institute of Science and Technology, India, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, 2018) Basnayake, W.B.M.D.The present paper reviews and summarizes the key findings on impact of strategy execution on organizational performance. This paper attempts to discuss the nature of strategy formulation and strategy implementation, focusing on the problems encountered by organizations in getting the strategy right. The dilemmas of strategy execution are explored and finally the importance of risk based strategy execution and strategic typology and firm performance are discussed. With the companies devoting more time in strategy formulation, than strategy implementation, it has been found that strategy execution receives less attention than strategy formulation leading organizations to suffer in the face of the challenging, volatile and competitive environment in which the company operates. The findings of the current review support the general conception that it is organization’s failure to recognize underline causes towards poor strategy execution compared to strategy formulation. Therefore, investigations are to be conducted further in future research studies.
