Item Ornament of substantiation (arth?ntara-ny?sa) in oriental poetry:(Book of Abstracts, Annual Research Symposium 2014, 2014) Aruna, K.G.The major purpose of this paper is to figure out the specialty and subtle nuance of arth?ntrarany?sa among the other ornaments of sense; artha-alankaras (henceforth OS). In order to clarify that, substantial proofs will be adduced from apt source materials. As the oriental poetry specifically indicates, two factors contribute to reinforce the aesthetic significance of the structure of a stanza. One of them connects with the phonetic aspect while the other one deals with the semantic facet of the stanza. A considerable amount of OSs can be seen in Sanskrit poetical literature. However, as a consequence of the subtle resemblance of many of these OSs, they are fairy hard to differentiate from each other. Among these Oss, the 'ornament of substantiation' holds a significant place and, it has been illustrated with diverse examples in many oriental poetical works.Item Theravada Buddhism and global context: a pragmatic study of k?mesu [micch?c?ra] mainly based on the Pali canon(Book of Abstracts, Annual Research Symposium 2014, 2014) Aruna, K.G.One of notable new trends that can be obviously seen in Sri Lanka is many people are struggling to put all the doctrinal concepts and teaching of the Theravada Buddhism in a global context. Even though the Buddhism is open for the scrutiny, it is worthwhile to examine the methodology and basis they use for this purpose. That is to say, one must have a plausible proofs and substantial basis in order to perform this task flawlessly. Apart from a sound methodology, one could possess a proper acquaintance in the Pali Canon, context, commentarial exegeses, parallel occurrences, Semantics, Pragmatics etc are some of necessary factors for this purpose. Regrettably, many of sociologists, psychologists, psychotherapists, counselors, scientists, anthropologists do not seem to care for any of indispensable factors mentioned above.
