Impact of Supply Chain Actor Citizenship Behavior on Supply Chain Learning Processes

Critical evaluation of early literature into supply chain learning indicates lack of research into the impact of supply chain actor citizenship behavior on supply chain learning processes. Therefore, this study explores the impact of supply chain actor citizenship behavior impact on supply chain learning processes. The study uses constructivist epistemology, interpretative theoretical perspective, case study research methodology and grounded theory thematic technique in data analysis. Findings of the study indicate that different elements of the supply chain actor citizenship behavior concept are connected to different levels of supply chain learning processes. Self-development is found to have an impact on intuition process, helping behavior is found to have an impact on interpretation process, tolerance is found to have an impact on integration process and constructiveness is found to have an impact on institutionalization process. An original contribution to theory includes extending organizational learning theory and citizenship behavior concept to supply chain context. And practitioners are recommended to explore dynamics of self-development, helping behavior, tolerance, and constructiveness on enhancing supply chain learning processes.
The Impact of Promotional Strategies of Pharmaceutical Companies on Doctor’s Recommendation of Branded Drugs: An Empirical Study on Pharmaceutical Industry in Sri Lanka

The study was focused on selected promotional strategies such as medical detailing, providing scientific materials, Sponsorships, continuous medical education programs (CME), and sponsoring clinical meetings conducted by the pharmaceutical companies in order to get recommendations of their products. As a sample, 150 doctors from Colombo, Kandy and Galle, were interviewed with a structured questionnaire. Both descriptive and inferential statistics methods were used to analyze the data. Correlation analysis and multiple regressions were used to test the relationship among the independent and dependent variables. The statistical analysis revealed that there is a significant influence of promotional strategies used by pharmaceutical companies on the recommendation of branded drugs by doctors. Further, it was found that each promotional strategy has different degree of impact on recommendation of branded drugs. Detailing and sampling have significant impact but it is relatively low compared to other factors like continuous meetings, scientific materials and CME.
Problems and Challenges Associated with Value Addition: With Special Reference to Coconut Based Productions in Jaffna District

Coconut is one of the major source of Jaffna District. It has the greatest prospects for growth and development. The coconut based producers have been facing huge problems. Value addition in each aspect of coconut based productions create more quality and adequate demand for the products. The purpose of this research is to diagnose the tremendous problems and challenges for value addition of coconut based productions in Jaffna District. Initially this paper reviewed the existing literature, empirical studies as well as the prevailing data bases in order to identify the problems and challenges for value addition. Then researcher conducted qualitative exploratory narrative research on coconut based productions in Jaffna District. Subjects were the owners or managers of enterprises and purposive sampling technique was utilized to select the subjects for this research. Unstructured interview was conducted to collect data. The problems and challenges of entrepreneurs regarding value addition were categorized with coding method by using NVIVO software. Present study identified two types of problems; internal and external problems associated with value addition. This research had two coin side implication, for owners of enterprises and other stakeholder to improve the productivity of organizations.
Impact of Macroeconomic Variables on Stock Market Returns: A Case Study of Colombo Stock Exchange, Sri Lanka

Unexpected circumstances with respect to the social and economic conditions, the stock market indices have been moving up and down with high volatility. This study examines the equilibrium relationships between the stock market indices and macro-economic factors in Sri Lankan during the period from January 2009 to December 2016 to capture the linear inter-dependencies, by using Vector Autoregressive Regression and Vector Error Correlation Model. Estimated co-integration rank test and Max-eigenvalue test suggested that there are two co-integration equations exist at the 0.05 level of significance. Furthermore, findings revealed that macroeconomic variables have direct effect on high volatility in Stock Market fluctuations. Moreover, the results concluded that Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is highly sensitive to the macroeconomic variables such as real gross domestic product and broad money supply.
A Review on Need for a Caring Economics with Special Reference to Sri Lanka

The aim of the survey is to find out the need of caring economics which focuses on the caring economic practices in the context of Sri Lanka. Basically, Caring Economics provides a genuine caring for people and nature as the uppermost priority in an economic system. The study contains a systematic literature review on caring economics that is urgently needed by policymakers and business leaders to foster personal, business, and national economic success. The conventional indicators of economic health in Sri Lanka such as unemployment rate do give absolute value of life-sustaining activities of household economy, unpaid economy, and natural economy. As the outcome of the study, it is found that there is a need for caring economics with the concern of rapidly changing technological changes and social conditions in Sri Lanka.
